11. BIOACTIVE ORGANOMETALLIC COMPOUNDS
Abstract : Various metal complexes have been used in medicine traditionally, although their use was often connected with mystery and with a lack of empirically (clinically) proven effect. In modern times, the development of biochemistry, bioinorganic and bioorganometallic chemistry allows us more in-depth understanding of biological action of metal containing substances. READ MORE

12. Transition metal-catalysed enol formation from allylic alcohols : Isomerisation, C−C and C−F bond formations
Abstract : This thesis describes the isomerisation of allylic alcohols into enols and enolates catalysed by transition metal complexes. The transformation has been used to prepare both unsubstituted and α-substituted carbonyl compounds. Significant attention has been given to the mechanistic aspects of the reactions. READ MORE

13. Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Cluster-Based Catalysts for Asymmetric Reactions
Abstract : Synthesis and characterization of new transition metal carbonyl clusters has been undertaken, and evaluation of the new clusters to act as catalysts/catalysts precursor in asymmetric reactions has been carried out. The catalytic hydrogenation of tiglic acid under relatively mild conditions, using diastereomeric clusters of the general formula [(µ-H)2Ru3(µ3-S)(CO)7(µ-1,2-L)] (L= chiral diphosphine of the ferrocene-based Walphos and Josiphos families) as catalysts, reveal different catalytic behavior in terms of conversion and enantioselectivity. 14. Modelling of molybdopterin-dependent enzymes
Abstract : The thesis deals with models for molybdopterin-dependent enzymes. Several model systems containing molybdenum or tungsten have been prepared and characterised, and their reactivity with oxygen atom acceptors and donors have been investigated. READ MORE

15. The chemistry of organic iodides under severe nuclear accident conditions in LWRs
Abstract : For many countries nuclear fission is an important part of their energy portfolio. However, a great concern is the occurrence of nuclear reactor accidents, which can result in the emission of radioactivity into the environment. READ MORE
