  1. 1. Targeted disruption and subcellular distribution of phospholipase C 3

    Author : Shu Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; Phosphoinositide specific phospholipase C; sequencing; fluorescence in situ hybridization; gene targeting; earlyembryonic development; electron microscopy; secretory granules; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Phosphatidylinositol specific phospholipase C (PLC) isoforms are key enzymes in the signal transduction pathway that control many cellular processes including cell proliferation, hormone secretion and egg fertilization. The PLCβ3 gene, assigned to the multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) locus, has been implicated in endocrine tumorigenesis due to the low expression in several endocrine tumors. READ MORE

  2. 2. Regulation of Phospholipase C and Plasma Membrane Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate in Insulin-Secreting Cells

    Author : Sophia Thore; Anders Tengholm; Erik Gylfe; Peter Jones; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; PLC; PIP2; insulin-secreting cell; Ca2 ; evanescent wave microscopy; phosphoinositide kinase; ATP ADP ratio; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The membrane phospholipid phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) is an important signaling molecule as substrate for the phospholipase C (PLC)-catalyzed formation of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol, and by directly regulating e.g. ion-channels, the cytoskeleton and vesicle trafficking in various types of cells. Abstract : Eicosanoids include prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, which are arachidonic acid oxygenation products. These lipids make important contributions to the signs and symptoms of inflammatory diseases. READ MORE

  4. 4. Investigation on Pre- and Postsynaptic Ca2+ Signaling in Neuronal Model Systems

    Author : Jelena Krjukova; Åkerman Karl; Kukkonen Jyrki; Rydqvist Bo; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Communication between neuronal and non-neuronal is called volume transmission when the released neurotransmitter (NT) acts via diffusion and affects several target cells. Both the neurosecretory and postsynaptic cell responses are linked to [Ca2+]i elevations. READ MORE

  5. 5. A UDP-glucose deficient mutant cell line as a model to study the cytotoxicity of Clostridium perfringens PLC

    Author : Marietta Flores Diaz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : A Chinese Hamster fibroblast mutant cell line, deficient in UDP-glucose (UDP-Glc) and hypersensitive to Clostridium perfringens phospholipase C (PLC) was used in this study to determine some of the molecular consequences of a cellular UDP-Glc deficiency. Furthermore, using this cell as a model, structure/function studies were performed to identify residues critical for the cytotoxic activity of PLC. READ MORE
