1. Self-adaptable catalysts : Importance of flexibility and applications in asymmetric catalysis
Abstract : The topic of this thesis is the design and synthesis of biaryl-based self adaptableligands for asymmetric metal catalysis. The results discussed in papers I-III are covered, together with some unpublished results concerning substrate-adaptable catalysts. A general survey of self-adaptable catalysts is presented first. 2. Evaluation, synthesis and imaging of therapeutic oligonucleotides
Abstract : A new method for the ³⁴S isotope labelling of phosphorothioate oligonucleotides is reported which allows a practical synthesis of site specifically labeled oligonucleotides. Several applications of this method are reported. READ MORE

3. Synthesis and Applications of P-Chirogenic and Axially Chiral P,N-Phosphines as Ligands and Organocatalyst
Abstract : This thesis deals with the enantioselective synthesis of chiral mixed phosphorous/nitrogen compounds and some of their applications in asymmetric synthesis. For the most part, the compounds are P-chirogenic, with the chirality centered on the phosphorous atom. The last part of the thesis deals with axially chiral phosphoramidites. READ MORE

4. METAL CARBONYL MEDIATED REACTIONS - APPLICATIONS IN THE SYNTHESIS OF POTENTIAL GALECTIN INHIBITORS
Abstract : AbstractThis work reports the development of an asymmetric version of the Nicholas reaction using monodentate phosphoramidites as ligands, which enables asymmetric synthesis from racemic starting material. In addition, we describe the application of metal carbonyl mediated reactions, such as the Pauson-Khand reaction (PKR) and reactions involving cationic iron carbonyl dienyl complexes, for the synthesis of potential galectin inhibitors, implicated in human inflammatory responses and various pathologies. 5. Development and synthesis of oligonucleotide building blocks and conjugates for therapeutic applications
Abstract : The research and development of oligonucleotide therapeutics has been a topic of great importance in life sciences. The potential to treat rare genetic diseases can be demonstrated simply by highlighting the increasing amount of approved oligonucleotide-based drugs. READ MORE
