  1. 6. Soluble and Plant Available Phosphorus in Acid Soils

    Author : Ann-Mari Fransson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solubilisation mechanisms; Phosphorus extractions; Oxalate extraction; P fertilisation; Plant ecology; Växtekologi;

    Abstract : The P availability and solubility differ between soils and plants seem to have different ways of utilising the P present. The many P fractions present in soil interact and are closely related to another and transformations may easily occur. Due to this more P than the soluble fraction is available to plants. READ MORE

  2. 7. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies on bentonite in complex mixed systems

    Author : Alexander S. Goryan; Willis Forsling; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bentonite; montmorillonite; 23Na; 31P; 29Si NMR; interaction; ion exchange; sorption; Chemistry of Interfaces; Gränsytors kemi;

    Abstract : In this work 23Na MAS NMR was validated as a successful quantitative method for studies of exchanging sodium in bentonites useful, in particular, for studies of ion-exchange kinetics. Na-enriched bentonites equilibrated in a re-circulated process water at iron-oxide pelletizing plants may acquire properties of Ca-bentonites after already 20 minutes of the equilibration time, since >50 % of sodium ions will be exchanged by calcium ions during first minutes of bentonite placed in contact with the process water. 3. 8. Removal of Organic Micropollutants from Wastewater in Biofilm Systems

    Author : Cecilia Burzio; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pharmaceuticals; Organic Micropollutants; Biological Treatment; Sorption; Aerobic Granular Sludge;

    Abstract : The presence of organic hazardous substances in the aquatic environment, such as pharmaceutically active compounds and personal care products, has become a worldwide issue of increasing environmental concern. Present at concentration of nano- to milligram per liter, they are defined as organic micropollutants (OMPs). READ MORE

  4. 9. Removal of Micropollutants from Wastewater in Aerobic Granular Sludge and Activated Sludge Systems

    Author : Cecilia Burzio; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wastewater; Pharmaceuticals; Aerobic Granular Sludge; Microbial Community; Organic Micropollutants; Biofilm; Transformation; Sorption;

    Abstract : The presence of organic substances in the aquatic environment, such as pharmaceutically active compounds, antibiotics, and personal care products, has become a worldwide issue of increasing environmental concern. As they are present at nano- to microgram per liter concentrations, they are defined as organic micropollutants (OMPs). READ MORE

  5. 10. Modelling phosphorus dynamics in constructed wetlands upgraded with reactive filter media

    Author : Rajabu Hamisi; Gunno Renman; Berit Balfors; Roger Thunvik; Steve W. Lyon; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Constructed Wetland; COMSOL; Modelling; Reactive Solute Transport; Sorption Process; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Abstract : Developing low-cost and effective technologies to upgrade phosphorus (P) removal from the catchment runoffs and rural wastewater treatment facilities is one of the main research agendas to save the Baltic Sea from eutrophication. In Sweden, the construction of the constructed wetlands has been one of the environmental objectives for wastewater quality improvement in the small communities. READ MORE
