  1. 16. Enrichment and Separation of Phosphorylated Peptides on Titanium Dioxide Surfaces : Applied and Fundamental Studies

    Author : Anna I. K. Eriksson; Anders Hagfeldt; Katarina Edwards; Victor Agmo Hernández; Hubert Girault; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Posttranslational modification; Phosphorylation; Mass spectrometry; MALDI; Adsorption; QCM-D; Physical Chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Protein phosphorylation is a very common posttranslational modification (PTM), which lately has been found to hold the keyrole in the development of many severe diseases, including cancer. Thereby, phosphoprotein analysis tools, generally based on specific enrichment of the phosphoryl group, have been a hot topic during the last decade. READ MORE

  2. 17. Interfacing HPLC with MALDI- and ESI-MS for Automated High Sensitivity Analysis of Proteins and Peptides

    Author : Tasso Miliotis; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; automated; phosphorylation; ZAP-70; peptides; proteins; comprehensive; multidimensional; two-dimensional; piezoelectric; microdispenser; flow-through; ESI-MS MS; Capillary HPLC; MALDI-TOF MS; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The research described in this thesis has an interdisciplinary approach dealing with chemical, biological, and technical issues. One objective was to interface miniaturized liquid chromatography (LC) to mass spectrometry, i.e. MALDI-TOF MS and ESI-MS, in an unattended mode for high sensitivity determination of proteins and peptides. 3. 18. Anti-epileptic and neuroprotective mechanisms by Topiramate and Levetiracetam evaluated in primary cultures

    Author : Mikael Ängehagen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : calcium imaging; phosphorylation; kainate; glutamate; caffeine; cerebral cortex; hippocampus; field potentials; neurons; astrocytes;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate plausible intracellular mechanisms of action for antiepileptic drugs, Topiramate (TPM) and Levetiracetam (LEV), and to investigate if TPM possesses neuroprotective properties. The thesis is based on results from calcium imaging, immunohistochemical stainings, viability tests, and Western blot using primary cortical or hippocampal cultures, or hippocampal brain slices. 4. 19. Exploring conditional motif-based protein interactions in health and disease

    Author : Johanna Kliche; Ylva Ivarsson; Ulrich Stelzl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ProP-PD; protein-protein interaction; short linear motif; phosphorylation; disease mutation; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) orchestrate a variety of cellular events, ranging from signal transduction, scaffolding to subcellular localisation. A subclass of PPIs is mediated by short linear motifs, which are short amino acid stretches found in the intrinsically disordered regions of the proteome. READ MORE

  5. 20. Understanding molecular mechanisms of protein tyrosine kinases by molecular dynamics and free energy calculations

    Author : Yaozong Li; Kwangho Nam; Magnus Wolf-Watz; Amedeo Caflisch; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kinase; IRK; IGF-1RK; phosphorylation; activation loop; molecular dynamics; phosphoryl transfer; alchemical free energy; dynamical network; correlation map; PCA; motion projection; Gaussian softcore; free energy landscape; kinase catalysis;

    Abstract : Background: Insulin receptor kinase (IRK) and Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor kinase (IGF-1RK) are two important members in the large class of tyrosine kinase receptors. They play pivotalroles in the regulation of glucose homeostasis, cell proliferation, differentiation, motility, andtransformation. READ MORE
