    Abstract : This thesis presents Quantum Chemical calculations on the Photochemistry of Halogenated benzenes, Phytochromobilin, Ruthenium Polypyridyl complexes and 6-4 photoadducts in DNA. The work is focused on improving the understanding of a number of experimentally observed photochemical processes in these systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Photochemistry of Phenyl Halides

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Daniel Karlsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2008]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Photochemistry; Predissociation; Phenyl halides; Excited states; Substituent effects; Pump-probe spectroscopy; Molecular beam; Dynamics; Kemi; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi;

    Abstract : We have studied fundamental aspects of photo-induced dissociation kinetics and dynamics in several phenyl halides. By combining femtosecond pump-probe measurements with ab initio calculations we are able to account for several observations. READ MORE

  3. 3. Femtosecond Dynamics and Photochemistry in Solution

    University dissertation from Villy Sundström, Department of Chemical Physics, Lund University, Box 124, 221 00 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Marcus Rasmusson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Chemistry; cross-correlation function; chloroiodomethane; dihalides; bromobenzene; ion pairs; solvation; vibrational relaxation; charge-transfer; tetranitromethane; electron transfer; femtosecond spectroscopy; dissociation; Photochemistry; Fotokemi; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : The reaction dynamics of several polyatomic systems have been investigated in solution by femtosecond spectroscopy. Tetranitromethane-naphtalene complexes excited in the charge-transfer band at 400 nm undergo dissociative electron transfer, resulting in three primary products: [naphthalene].+, NO2 and C(NO2)3-.     Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Time-resolved; Fluorescence spectroscopy; Excited State Proton Transfer ESPT ; Photochemistry; Eumelanin; Melanin;

    Abstract : Melanin is an epidermal pigment commonly known to give darker skin coloration under sun exposure. It is also present in the hair, eyes, inner ear and brain. READ MORE

  5. 5. Synthesis of Substituted Alkanethiols Intended for Protein Immobilization Chelate Associated Photochemistry (CAP)

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Author : Lan Bui; Peter Konradsson; Bo Liedberg; Markus Hederos; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The first and main part of this thesis is focused on the design and synthesis of photo-activableand metal chelating alkanethiols. Chelate associated photochemistry (CAP) is a novel conceptof combining two well-known protein (ligand) immobilization strategies to obtain a sensorsurface of covalently bound ligand with defined orientation.
