  1. 1. Short-Pulse Photofragmentation and Fluorescence-based Diagnostics - Development and Applications

    Author : Malin Jonsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydroxyl radical OH ; Short-pulse excitation; Photofragmentation; Combustion diagnostics; Laser-induced fluorescence; Hydrogen peroxides; Collisional quenching; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Jonsson;

    Abstract : The work presented in the thesis covers the use of laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence (PFLIF) with short laser pulses to determine species concentrations in different combustion environments. To attain quantitative species concentrations using LIF investigations of the influence of collisional quenching on the fluorescence signal strength is of vital importance, which can be done by measuring the fluorescence lifetime. 2. 2. Development and application of photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence for visualization of hydrogen peroxides

    Author : Olof Johansson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Flame diagnostics; Fluorescence lifetime imaging; Hydrogen peroxide; Laser diagnostics; Laser-induced fluorescence; Photofragmentation;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is mainly motivated by the need for an optical diagnostic technique which can be used to visualize hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in its gas phase. Due to the lack of bound electronic states, H2O2 cannot be detected using laser-induced fluorescence based on electronic excitation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantitative laser diagnostics of gas-phase potassium species in biomass combustion and gasification

    Author : Emil Thorin; Florian Schmidt; Markus Broström; Zhongshan Li; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermochemical conversion; pyrolysis; phosphorus; single pellet; entrained-flow; in situ; spectroscopy; photofragmentation; imaging; numerical modelling; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Thermochemical energy conversion processes, such as combustion and gasification, are applied worldwide for generation of electricity, heat and synthesis of chemicals. Today, these processes are mostly run on non-renewable, fossil fuels and constitute a major source of carbon dioxide emissions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development and Application of Laser-Induced Emission Techniques for Combustion Diagnostics -High-Resolution Visualization of Turbulent Reacting Flows

    Author : Bo Li; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PLIF; LIF; Laser-Induced Fluorescence; Rayleigh scattering; Laser Diagnostics; flame font; Combustion; Turbulence; Photofragmentation LIF; PF-LIF; Laser-induced Phosphorescence; LIP; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Li;

    Abstract : Nowadays, more than 90% of our energy comes from combustion processes. Hence, it is very important to perform combustion research to reduce emissions, improve efficiency, find clean and renewable fuels, strengthen safety, etc. READ MORE
