  1. 6. High-Resolution Measurement of the 4He(g,n) Reaction in the Giant Resonance Region

    Author : Björn Nilsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tagged photons; photonuclear reactions; liquid helium; neutron detectors; liquid scintillators; giant resonances; angular distributions; differential cross sections; total cross sections; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Nilsson;

    Abstract : A comprehensive near-threshold 4He(g,n) absolute cross section measurement has been performed at the high-resolution tagged-photon facility MAX-lab located in Lund, Sweden. The 20 < Eg < 45 MeV tagged photons (covering the Giant Dipole Resonance energy region) were directed towards a liquid 4He target, and knocked-out neutrons were detected in a pair of 60 cm x 60 cm vetoed NE213A liquid scintillator arrays. 2. 7. Production of photoneutron beams and radionuclides by photonuclear reactions using a 50 MeV racetrack microtron

    Author : Bo Nordell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutron therapy; Photoneutron spectrum; Bremsstrahlung; Angular distribution; Carbon 11; Iodine 123;

    Abstract : The feasibility of using electrons accelerated by a 50 MeV racetrack microtron to generate a mixed beam of neutrons and photons for radiation therapy and for production of radionuclides has been investigated.To develop target systems for these purposes the angular distribution and yield of bremsstrahlung from different targets have been studied theoretically. 3. 8. Development of improved radiation therapy techniques using narrow scanned photon beams

    Author : Björn Andreassen; Anders Brahme; Håkan Danared; Roger Svensson; Antony Lomax; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : IMRT; Scanned photon beams; PET-CT treatment verification; Monte Carlo; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Abstract : The present thesis is focused on the development and application of narrow scanned high energy photon beam for radiation therapy. The introduction of physically and biologically optimized intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) requires a flexible and accurate dose delivery method to maximize the treatment outcome.
