  1. 16. Phylogenetic Studies in the Euasterids II : with Particular Reference to Asterales and Escalloniaceae

    Author : Johannes Lundberg; Olof Ryding; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organismic biology; Organismbiologi; Organism biology; Organismbiologi; systematisk botanik; Systematic Botany;

    Abstract : The present study is concerned with the evolutionary relationships among the Euasterids II, a group of angiosperms that includes the orders Apiales, Aquifoliales, Asterales, and Dipsacales together with several small, poorly known families yet unplaced as to order.Parsimony analysis of nucleotide sequence data from the chloroplast genes atpB, ndhF and rbcL together with morphological data are used to construct a phylogeny of the order Asterals, which in the present sense includes 11 families and more than 26 000 species. 2. 17. Phylogenetic studies in the Inuleae s. lat. (Asteraceae)

    Author : Pia Eldenäs; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Plant Systematics; växtsystematik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns phylogenetic problems in the tribe Inuleae s. lat. (Asteraceae). The genus Perralderia is revised. READ MORE

  3. 18. Bioinformatic tools for the analysis of microbial genomes

    Author : Thomas Sicheritz-Pontén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : High throughput genome sequencing projects are producing an enormous amount of rawdata which has to be converted into biological knowledge. The newly established field ofbioinformatics is concerned with the continuous development of novel methods and toolsfor the comparative analysis of DNA sequences and genomic data. READ MORE

  4. 19. Taking advantage of phylogenetic trees in comparative genomics

    Author : Örjan Åkerborg; Jens Lagergren; Mathieu Blanchette; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer Science; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik;

    Abstract : Phylogenomics can be regarded as evolution and genomics in co-operation. Various kinds of evolutionary studies, gene family analysis among them, demand access to genome-scale datasets. But it is also clear that many genomics studies, such as assignment of gene function, are much improved by evolutionary analysis. READ MORE

  5. 20. Morphological and Molecular Phylogenetic Studies in Neotropical Gentianaceae

    Author : Lena Struwe; Pamela S Soltis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; systematisk botanik; Systematic Botany;

    Abstract : The Gentianaceae of the Neotropics are a diverse taxonomic group representing several evolutionary lineages. The phylogenetic relationships of neotropical gentians are discussed based on cladistic analyses of morphological, trnL intron, and ITS 1 sequence data. READ MORE
