  1. 16. Phylogeny and classification of the tribe Vanguerieae (Rubiaceae)

    Author : Henrik Lantz; Torsten Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Vanguerieae; Rubiacaeae; phylogeny; classification; morphology; ITS; trnT-F; rpl16; Biologi; Biology; Biologi; systematisk botanik; Systematic Botany;

    Abstract : Vanguerieae is a tribe in the mainly tropical angiosperm family Rubiaceae. The tribe currently comprises around 600 species in 27 genera, with the major part of the species distributed in Africa south of the Sahara. The phylogeny of the tribe was investigated using both molecular and morphological data. READ MORE

  2. 17. Phylogeny and topological incongruence in the Rubioideae (Rubiaceae)

    Author : Olle Thureborn; Catarina Rydin; Sylvain G. Razafimandimbison; Niklas Wikström; Michael D. Pirie; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anthospermeae; cytonuclear discordance; gene trees; incomplete lineage sorting; incongruence; mitochondrial genome; nuclear genome; phylogenomics; phylogeny; plastid genome; Rubiaceae; Rubioideae; species trees; Plant Systematics; växtsystematik;

    Abstract : The work with this thesis has focused on evolutionary relationships in the Rubioideae, the most species-rich subfamily of the large and diverse coffee family (Rubiaceae). Despite considerable efforts during the last decades, uncertainty regarding several relationships in this group has remained, either as a result of unconvincing statistic support, incongruent results, or insufficient taxon sampling. 3. 18. Phylogeny and Taxonomy of Polyblastia and allied taxa (Verrucariaceae)

    Author : Sanja Savić; Leif Tibell; Bengt Oxelman; Martin Grube; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biology; Phylogeny; Taxonomy; ITS; LSU; RPB1; Nomenclature; Biologi; Polyblastia; Verrucariaceae; Sporodictyon; Atla; Thelidium; Verrucaria; Staurothele; Trimmatothele;

    Abstract : Polyblastia A. Massal. is a genus of lichenized fungi belonging to Verrucariaceae (Ascomycota). Traditional classification heavily rested on a few cardinal characters, primarily ascoma structure and spore morphology, but the delimitation of Polyblastia was problematic. READ MORE

  4. 19. Phylogeny, diversity and toxin production related to cyanobacterial symbioses

    Author : Dimitra Papaefthimiou; Ulla Rasmussen; Kaarina Sivonen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Azolla; BMAA; cyanobacteria; cyanobionts; cyanolichens; diversity; HPLC; Nostoc; phylogeny; symbiosis; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Abstract : Phylogeny and morphology were examined for the cyanobionts from the water fern Azolla and the cyanobacterial genus Nostoc originating from symbioses with different host plants (genera Gunnera, Cycas, Dioon, Encephalarthos, Macrozamia, and Anthoceros), the lichen genus Pannaria, and free-living Nostoc isolates from different habitats. Nostoc isolates of Pannaria formed a closely related group, but, in general, no monophyletic nature was attributed to the genus Nostoc, in contrast to the cyanobionts from Azolla which were contained in a unique monophyletic group. 5. 20. Phylogeny of Artiodactyla and Cetacea - based on mitochondrial genomes

    Author : Björn M Ursing; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; mitochondrial genome; phylogeny; Artiodactyla; Cetacea; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : Artiodactyla (eved-toed ungulates) and Cetacea (whales) are two mammalian orders that are commonly recognised as sistergroups. Recently it has been suggested that Cetacea originated within Artiodactyla, but the relationships among the different artiodactyl lineages and Cetacea have not been conclusively established. READ MORE
