21. Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation, physical fitness, and physical activity in cardiac disease
Abstract : Background: Evidence suggests that individualised exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation should be offered to patients with ischemic heart disease and chronic heart failure (HF) because it improves physical fitness and health-related quality of life (HR-QoL), and reduces cardiac mortality and hospital admissions. If physiotherapist-led exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (PT-X) can similarly improve physical fitness in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), and improve physical activity levels in patients with chronic HF or permanent AF, has been sparsely studied. 22. Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Disease
Abstract : The aim was to investigate associations of fitness and types and levels of physical activity with subsequent risk of cardiovascular disease.Four large-scale longitudinal cohort studies were used. The exposures were different measures related to physical activity and the outcomes were obtained through linkage to the Swedish In-Patient Register. READ MORE

23. Alkylglycoside Surfactants - Self-Assembly, Solid-State Properties and Interactions with Hydrophobic Molecules
Abstract : A thorough physical-chemical characterisation of alkylglycosides has been performed. The effects of temperature, salt, concentration and deuterium exchange on the self-aggregation of n-nonyl-b-D-glucoside (b-C9G1) and n-tetradecyl-b-D-maltoside (b-C14G2) have been studied in dilute solutions by static and dynamic light scattering, neutron scattering, rheology, capillary viscometry and tensiometry. 24. Push the limitations of crystal structure determination by 3D electron diffraction : From inorganic porous materials to biomolecules
Abstract : Structure elucidation is fundamental to understanding the chemical and physical properties of a material. Three-dimensional electron diffraction (3D ED) has shown great power for structure determination of nanometer- or submicrometer-sized crystals that are either too small or too complex for X-ray diffraction. 25. Polymer effects on microemulsions and lamellar phases
Abstract : The main part of this thesis deals with the effects of adsorbing and non-adsorbing polymers when mixed with microemulsion droplets and bilayers in a lamellar phase. The phase behaviour, microstructure and interactions in a nonionic surfactant/ water/ oil-system, comprising penta ethylene oxide dodecyl ether (C12E5) and decane, was investigated. READ MORE
