  1. 1. Characterisation and Consolidation of Historical Lime Mortars in Cultural Heritage Buildings and Associated Structures in East Africa

    Author : Athuman M. K. Ngoma; Jonas Holmgren; Jan Erik Lindqvist; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; East Africa; Stone Town; historical building; mortar; deterioration; consolidation; calcium hydroxide solution; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : For the period of several centuries, the influence of several distinct cultures produced rich and diverse cultural heritage that we see today in East Africa countries. The most tangible remains of these heritages are stone built buildings and structures including, palaces, mosques, residential houses and tombs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of ATR-FTIR Kretschmann Spectroscopy for In situ Studies of Metal / Polymer Interfaces : and its Intergration with EIS for Exposure to Corrosive Conditions

    Author : Maria Öhman; Christofer Leygraf; Herman Terryn; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : The environmental stability of a metal / polymer interface is essential for the durability and mechanical stability of constructions in several important areas such as the automotive, offshore, building and aerospace industries. The protective capability of a polymer film is strongly connected to its barrier properties, but the transport of water and corrosive constituents through the polymer and the subsequent processes at the metal surface are complicated to analyse in detail. 3. 3. Recycling and durability of PVC materials focusing on pre- and post-consumer wastes from building products

    Author : Nazdaneh Yarahmadi; SP – Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut *(2016-12-31) SP – Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accelerated ageing; Activation energy; Annealing; Cables; Dehydrochlorination; Dismantling; DSC; Elongation at break; Emissions; Energy recovery; Flooring; Heat ageing; Lifetime; Orientation; Physical ageing; Plasticised PVC; Plasticiser depletion; Profiles; Recycling; Repeated extrusion; Residual stability; Rigid PVC; Sustainable building; Chlorination; Degradation; Durability; Mechanical properties; Plastic building materials; Plasticizers; Stabilizers agents ; Tensile properties; Molecular level; Polyvinyl chlorides;

    Abstract : The potential for recycling various polymeric materials contained within buildings constructed in the late 1960s and 1970s in Sweden was investigated during the course of this work. Three residential blocks were studied to establish the quantity of materials available for recycling, to investigate the difficulty in and time needed for the dismantling of the buildings, the degree of purity of the materials, and the possibility of separating the materials. 4. 4. Developments and application of neutron noise diagnostics of sodium cooled fast reactors

    Author : Florian Zylbersztejn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutron monitoring; Neutron noise; Fast neutron reactors; Core volume fluctuations;

    Abstract : The Sodium cooled Fast Reactor (SFR) is one of the six reactor types selected by the Generation-IV international forum (GIF), and the building of an industrial prototype is planned in France. The safety standard of the future SFR has to be equivalent to the EPR's. READ MORE

  5. 5. Single-crystal Mo/V superlattices : growth, structure, and hydrogen uptake

    Author : Jens Birch; Jan-Erik Sundgren; Bruce M Clemens; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Fundamental studies concerning the growth, structural characterization and hydrogen uptake of single-crystal (00 l )-oriented Mo/V superlattices have been performed. The superlattices were grown by dual-target magnetron sputtering in pure Ar-atmosphere < 6·10-3 Torr on (001)-oriented MgO substrates. READ MORE
