  1. 21. Modelling Charge Transport for Organic Solar Cells within Marcus Theory

    Author : Riccardo Volpi; Mathieu Linares; David Huang; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : With the technological advancement of modern society, electronic devices are getting progressively more integrated in our everyday lives. Their continuouslygrowing presence is generating numerous concerns about costs, efficiency and the environmental impact of the electronic waste. READ MORE

  2. 22. Active Matter in a Critical State: From passive building blocks to active molecules, engines, and active droplets

    Author : Falko Schmidt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; active matter; nonequilibrium; self-assembly; microswimmers; nanomotors; optical tweezers; colloidal molecules; active droplets; critical Casimir forces;

    Abstract : The motion of microscopic objects is strongly affected by their surrounding environment. In quiescent liquids, motion is reduced to random fluctuations known as Brownian motion. Nevertheless, microorganisms have been able to develop mechanisms to generate active motion. READ MORE

  3. 23. Sustainable Urban and Regional Development and Related Ecosystem Services and Water-Climate Interactions

    Author : Jessica Faye Page; Zahra Kalantari; Georgia Destouni; Bev Wilson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; urban planning; regional planning; sustainable cities; nature-based solutions; climate change; planning support systems; sustainable development; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : To accommodate a growing global population while mitigating climate change, urban areas must grow while minimising environmental impacts. To achieve this, a city must be treated as a complex socio-ecological system in which many actors and subsystems act in unclear and unpredictable ways. READ MORE

  4. 24. Structure-Specific Vibrational Modes of Isolated Biomolecules Studied with Mid- and Far-Infrared Laser Spectroscopy

    Author : Vasyl Yatsyna; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; far-infrared gas-phase spectroscopy; conformers; vibrational anharmonicity; infrared multiple photon dissociation; peptide structure; folded and extended peptides; hydrogen bonding;

    Abstract : Biomolecular structure elucidation is crucial for our detailed understanding of various biological processes, since there is an intimate relationship between the biomolecular function and structure. In this respect, isolated biomolecules, despite being outside of their natural environment, are perfect model systems for in-depth studies of various fundamental interactions that govern the formation of biomolecular structure. 5. 25. Quantum effects in nanoscale Josephson junction circuits

    Author : Silvia Corlevi; David B. Haviland; Jukka Pekola; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Josephson junctions; Josephson junction arrays; electromagnetic environment; Cooper pair transistor; parity effects; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the results of an experimental study on single-charge effects in nanoscale Josephson junctions and Cooper pair transistors (CPTs). In nanoscale Josephson junctions the charging energy EC becomes significant at sub-Kelvin temperatures and single-charge effects, such as the Coulomb blockade of Cooper pair tunneling, influence the transport properties.
