21. Computational Studies of Electron Transport in Nanoscale Devices
Abstract : In this thesis, a combination of density functional theory (DFT) based calculations and nonequilibrium Green’s functions are employed to investigate electron transport in molecular switches, molecular cords and nanoscale devices. Molecular electronic devices have been proposed as an approach to complement today’s silicon based electronic devices. READ MORE

22. Nanostructured Model Electrodes for Studies of Fuel Cell Reactions
Abstract : There is currently a general need for alternative and sustainable energy systems. As part of such a system, the polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEMFC) offers efficient and emission free energy conversion. READ MORE

23. Structure-Function Relationships in RuII Complexes with Unconventional Ligands: Photophysical and Photochemical Studies
Abstract : The rich photophysics, photochemistry and electrochemistry of RuII complexes have attracted intense research interest in widely disparate fields. A large portion of the studied and applied complexes are derived from the archetypical [Ru(bpy)3]2+ (bpy is 2,2’-bipyridine), which absorbs in the visible region, displays a long lived (~1 μs), emissive metal-to-ligand charge transfer state, and shows reversible electrochemistry in both the ground and excited state. 24. Long-term Environmental Problems, Economic Measures and Physical Indicators
Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers and an introduction dealing with various aspects of the use of environmental resources. In both Paper I, The marginal cost of CO2 emissions, and Paper II, Discounting and distributional considerations in the context of global warming, we analyse the economics of the greenhouse effect. 25. Mesoscopic superconductivity : quasiclassical approach
Abstract : This Thesis is concerned with the quasiclassical theory of meso-scopic superconductivity. The aim of the Thesis is to introduce the boundary conditions for a quasiclassical Green’s function on partially transparent interfaces in mesoscopic superconducting structures and to analyze the range of applicability of the quasiclassical theory.
