  1. 11. Effects of visual load on auditory processing

    Author : Malina Szychowska; Stefan Wiens; Mats E. Nilsson; Maria Larsson; Inga Griskova-Bulanova; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; EEG; event-related potential; mismatch negativity; auditory steady-state response; envelope following response; perceptual load; visual load; task difficulty; crossmodal attention; early-filter theory; adaptive filtering model; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : In daily life, people need to be able to focus on a task while ignoring any task-irrelevant background noise. For example, people who work in an open-space office may have to work on a report while ignoring the background talk among co-workers. READ MORE

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the principles of biolubrication, focusing on synergistic effects between biolubricants. To this end surface force and friction measurements were carried out by means of Atomic Force Microscopy, using hydrophilic and hydrophobic model surfaces in salt solutions of high ionic strength (≈ 150 mM) in presence of different biolubricants. 4. 14. Evaluation of a Variable Nozzle Turbine Turbocharger on a Diesel Engine under Steady and Transient Conditions

    Author : Ralf Barkhage; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diesel engine; emissions; transient operation; control system; fuel economy; variable geometry turbocharging; engine performance; variable nozzle turbine; supercharging;

    Abstract : The growing global call for reduced emissions and fuel consumption together with the market call for engines with higher power density and application-oriented torque curves can be met using turbochargers with variable geometry turbines (VGT). The second generation of VGT turbochargers is currently being developed and is starting to appear on the market. READ MORE

  5. 15. Normal Metal Hot-Electron Microbolometer with Superconducting Andreev Mirrors

    Author : Denis Chouvaev; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns development of the Normal metal hot-electron microbolometer (NHEB). The NHEB is an antenna-coupled direct detector of sub-millimeter wave electromagnetic radiation. READ MORE
