  1. 16. Phylogeny of Selaginellaceae

    Author : Petra Korall; Birgitta Bremer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; fysiologisk botanik; Physiological Botany;

    Abstract : The phylogeny of Selaginellaceae, a small, but historically important family of heterosporous lycopods, has been the focus of this thesis. The approximately 700 extant species are herbaceous and distributed all over the world, with most species in the tropics and subtropics. READ MORE

  2. 17. Drought Stress Signal Transduction by the HD-Zip Transcription Factors ATHB6 and ATHB7

    Author : Mattias Hjellström; Dorothea Bartels; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; fysiologisk botanik; Physiological Botany;

    Abstract : This work describes the regulation of drought stress responses in Arabidopsis thaliana and adresses the roles of the homeodomain-leucine zipper (HD-Zip) transcription factors in this regulation. The characteristics of ATHB6 and ATHB7, two genes encoding class I HD-Zip transcription factors were analysed. READ MORE

  3. 18. Measurements for improvement of running capacity : physiological and biomechanical evaluations

    Author : Lennart Gullstrand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Running economy; treadmill; track running; measurement methods;

    Abstract : Introduction: Running is included in a large number of sports and one of the most well investigated modes of locomotion in both physiology and biomechanics. This thesis focuses on how some new methods from both areas may be used to capture running capacity in mid-distance and distance running from laboratory and field recordings. READ MORE

  4. 19. Protein phosphorylation in plant mitochondria

    Author : André Struglics; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FoF1-ATPase; autophosphorylation; protein kinase activity; protein phosphorylation; Plant mitochondria; inner mitochondrial membrane; NDPK; Physiological biophysics; Växtfysiologi;

    Abstract : Protein phosphorylation in the subcompartments of plant mitochondria was investigated by labelling with [gamma-32P]ATP and by SDS-PAGE/autoradiography. About 20 proteins in inside-out inner mitochondrial membranes from potato tubers were phosphorylated by endogenous protein kinases when incubated with [gamma-32P]ATP. READ MORE

  5. 20. Acoustic, perceptual and physiological studies of ten-year-old children's voices

    Author : Anita McAllister; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Child voice; hoarseness; perceptual evaluation; voice characteristics; visual analog scales; voice range profiles; fundamental frequency range; dynamic range; glottal closure; stroboscopy; vocal nodules; register transitions; subglottal pressure; SPL;

    Abstract : The aim of the present investigation was to study hoarseness and its perceptual, acoustic and physiological characteristics in ten-year-old children's voices. Fifty-eight children's voices were perceptually evaluated along 15 voice parameters. READ MORE
