  1. 1. Assessment of eosinophil degranulation in allergic diseases and experimental models

    Author : Monika Malm-Erjefält; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []

    Abstract : In allergic disorders, the eosinophilic granulocytes migrate to affected tissues and release granule proteins with cytotoxic, immunoregulatory, and remodeling-promoting properties. Given that degranulation is reflected by a loss in eosinophil granule density of living cells, or by cell membrane rupture and release of intact granules, these morphological changes may represent a biomarker of the allergic disease. 2. 2. Mechanisms of granule protein mobiliation in blood eosinophils

    Author : Malgorzata Karawajczyk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; eosinophil granule proteins; ECP; EPX; EPO; serum levels; piecemeal degranulation; release; ultrastructure; subcellular fractionation; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Serum levels of eosinophil granule proteins namely ECP, EPO and EPX, which are stored in the matrix of specific granules, were shown to correlate with the course of disease in disorders involving eosinophils. The concentration of eosinophil proteins in serum is the result of their release in vivo and ex vivo during the sampling procedure. READ MORE

  3. 3. Symptoms and aspects on eosinophil activity in allergic rhinitis

    Author : Cecilia Ahlström-Emanuelsson; Lund näs- och halssjukdomar Öron-; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Allergic rhinitis is a major atopic disease. Even if much is known about the pathophysiology of this condition, and despite the fact that good treatments are available, there is a need for new treatment options, particularly for such aiming at new targets and reduced side effects.
