  1. 16. Imaging and modeling the cardiovascular system

    Author : Elira Maksuti; Michael Broomé; Anna Bjällmark; Matilda Larsson; Martin Ugander; Patrick Segers; KTH; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cardiac pumping; diastolic function; hemodynamics; modeling; simulation; arterial stiffness; ultrasound; shear wave elastography.; Medical Technology; Medicinsk teknologi; Cardiac pumping;

    Abstract : Understanding cardiac pumping function is crucial to guiding diagnosis, predicting outcomes of interventions, and designing medical devices that interact with the cardiovascular system.  Computer simulations of hemodynamics can show how the complex cardiovascular system is influenced by changes in single or multiple parameters and can be used to test clinical hypotheses. 2. 17. Optimizing surface texture for combustion engine cylinder liners

    Author : Andrew Spencer; Michel Cervantes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : The Piston Ring - Cylinder Liner (PRCL) contact is the single largest contributor to frictional losses in an internal combustion (IC) engine, causing 20-40% of all mechanical losses. If these mechanical losses can be reduced by 10% then vehicle fuel efficiency could be increased by approximately 1.5-2.5%. READ MORE

  3. 18. Study and Development of Techniques to Improve Engine Stability and Reduce Emissions from Natural Gas Engines

    Author : Patrik Einewall; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; framdrivningssystem; Motorer; Motors and propulsion systems; Low Emissions ; Natural Gas Engines ; EGR ;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis was to find ways to improve combustion and reduce emissions from supercharged natural gas engines. In-cylinder flow measurements were made with laser doppler velocimetry, LDV, heat release was calculated from cylinder pressures and emissions were measured at various locations. READ MORE

  4. 19. On surface structure characterization and application on additive manufacturing

    Author : Olena Flys; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; surface texture parameters.; fused deposition modelling; power spectral density; coherence scanning interferometer; selective laser melting; Surface characterization;

    Abstract : Countless industrial applications over the past decades have indicated the increased need to relate surface texture to surface function. The fast-growing industry of additive manufacturing admits the surface roughness as one of the main challenges. READ MORE

  5. 20. Combustion Bowl Heat Transfer Analysis in Diesel and PPC Engines

    Author : Helgi Fridriksson; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Heat Transfer; CFD; Internal Combustion Engine; Diesel; PPC;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns a numerical investigation on heat transfer in internal combustion engines, with the aim of increasing engine efficiency. The efficiency gains are to be extracted from reduced heat transfer losses, by increasing the knowledge on how the heat transfer process is affected by various hardware and operational parameters in the engine.
