  1. 16. Position-sensitive germanium detectors for gamma-ray tracking, imaging and polarimetry

    Author : Anton Khaplanov; Bo Cederwall; Araceli Lopez-Martens; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Modern germanium detectors are often manufactured with two-dimensionally segmented electrical contacts. Signals induced in each segment are read out simultaneously when a photon is detected. Detailed pulse shape analysis (PSA) of these signals allows to resolve positions of individual γ-ray interactions with a precision of at least a few mm. READ MORE

  2. 17. Application of SiGe(C) in high performance MOSFETs and infrared detectors

    Author : Mohammadreza Kolahdouz Esfahani; Henry Radamson; Ya-Hong Xie; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Silicon Germanium Carbon SiGeC ; Reduced Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition RPCVD ; Epitaxy; Pattern Dependency; MOSFET; Mobility; bolometer; Quantum Well; Infrared IR Detection; Ni Silicide; High Resolution X-ray Diffraction HRXRD ; High Resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy HRSEM ; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : Epitaxially grown SiGe(C) materials have a great importance for many device applications. In these applications, (strained or relaxed) SiGe(C) layers are grown either selectively on the active areas, or on the entire wafer. READ MORE

  3. 18. Performance Improvements for Particle Tracking Detectors in Extreme Rate and Radiation Environments

    Author : Veronica Wallängen; Samuel Silverstein; Sara Strandberg; Marek Idzik; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : In order to increase its discovery potential, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN is being transformed into a higher luminosity machine expected to be operational around 2026. The number of particle collisions will increase by a factor of 10 beyond the current design value, which means that the detectors installed around the LHC are facing various new challenges. 4. 19. Nanowire devices for X-ray detection

    Author : Lert Chayanun; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanowires; Nanowire solar cells; X-ray detectors; X-ray beam induced current;

    Abstract : High spatial resolution X-ray microscopy has become a dedicated tool to study nanocrystals and nanostructure devices in recent years. In general, the spatial resolution of X-ray microscopy depends on the spot size of the X-ray beam and the pixel size of X-ray detectors. READ MORE

  5. 20. Frequency Selective Cold-Electron Bolometer Arrays

    Author : Sumedh Mahashabde; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mm-wave detectors; Cold-Electron Bolometer; Frequency Selective Surface; Focal Plane array; OLIMPO; LSPE;

    Abstract : This work presents the integration of the Cold-Electron Bolometer (CEB) in Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) based arrays targeting balloon-borne telescope missions with high incident power requirements (typically tens of pW). FSS are planar frequency sensitive structures typically consisting of repeating pattern of a simple motif like square, circle, etc. READ MORE
