  1. 1. Conformal Maps, Bergman Spaces, and Random Growth Models

    Author : Alan Sola; Haakan Hedenmalm; Robert Berman; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Conformal maps; Bergman kernels; planar growth models; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of an introduction and five research papers on topics related to conformal mapping, the Loewner equation and its applications, and Bergman-type spaces of holomorphic functions. The first two papers are devoted to the study of integral means of derivatives of conformal mappings. READ MORE

  2. 2. First-principles investigations of planar defects

    Author : Song Lu; Levente Vitos; Graeme Ackland; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Two types of planar defects, phase interface and stacking fault, are addressed in thisthesis. The first-principles exact-muffin orbitals method in combination with thecoherent-potential approximation is the main density functional theory (DFT) toolfor our studies. READ MORE

  3. 3. First-principles investigations of planar defects

    Author : Lu Song; Levente Vitos; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Two types of planar defects, phase interface and stacking fault, are addressed in this thesis. The investigation is mainly carried out for stainless steels which are fundamental materials in modern society. For the phase interface, we investigate the metallic bcc/bcc and fcc/bcc phase interfaces. READ MORE

  4. 4. Stochastic epidemics on random networks and competition in growth

    Author : Carolina Fransson; Pieter Trapman; Daniel Ahlberg; Julia Komjathy; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; random graphs; branching processes; SIR epidemics; malthusian parameter; urn model; matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics;

    Abstract : The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically demonstrated the importance of epidemic models in understanding and predicting disease spread and in assessing the effectiveness of interventions. The overarching topic of this thesis is stochastic epidemic modelling, with the main focus on the role of the underlying social structure in infectious disease spread. READ MORE

  5. 5. Model-based Analysis and Design of Atomic Layer Deposition Processes

    Author : Anders Holmqvist; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atomic layer deposition; Heterogeneous reaction kinetics; Limit-cycle dynamics; Parameter estimation; Multi-objective optimization; Dynamic optimization; Scale-up analysis;

    Abstract : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a thin-film manufacturing process in which the growth surface is exposed to non-overlapping alternating injections of gas-phase chemical precursor species separated by intermediate purge periods to prevent gas-phase reactions. ALD is characterized by sequential self-terminating heterogeneous reactions between highly reactive gas-phase precursor species and surface-bound species which, when allowed sufficient conditions to reach saturation, results in highly conformal films, on both planar and topographically complex structures.
