11. FtsH metalloproteases and their pseudo-proteases in the chloroplast envelope of Arabidopsis thaliana
Abstract : By cleaving peptide bonds, proteases either activate or degrade proteins and maintain protein quality control in response to various developmental stimuli and environmental factors. My work has focused on elucidating the role of the filamentation temperature sensitive protein H (FtsH) proteases. READ MORE

12. Carbon allocation in underground storage organs : studies on accumulation of starch, sugars and oil
Abstract : By increasing knowledge of carbon allocation in underground storage organs and using the knowledge to improve such crops, the competitiveness of these types of storage organs can be strengthened. Starch is the most common storage compound in tubers and roots, but some crops accumulate compounds other than starch. READ MORE

13. Analyses of genetic diversity and desirable traits in sesame (Sesamum indicum L., Pedaliaceae) : implication for breeding and conservation
Abstract : Sesame (Sesamum indicum L., Pedaliaceae) is a traditional oil crop cultivated in Vietnam and Cambodia. It is known as the king of oil seeds in Vietnam due to the high oil content (50-60%) in its seed. READ MORE

14. Characterization of auxiliary membrane proteins in the chloroplast of Arabidopsis thaliana
Abstract : In nature, sessile plants have to adapt to their environment and to the never ending changes they are exposed to. They do so mainly by proteomic and metabolomic changes. In all cells, there are complex networks of auxiliary proteins that are responsible for quality control of all the cell's proteins. READ MORE

15. Regional and local variation in plant species richness
Abstract : In this thesis, I examine the variation in plant species richness along gradients of productivity and disturbance in grasslands and forest habitats in southern Sweden, and I compare the documented patterns with theoretical predictions. Moreover, I evaluate the relative importance of habitat quality and habitat configuration for the occurrence of field layer species in deciduous forests. READ MORE
