  1. 21. Proteomics and phylogenetics of the Gnetales

    Author : Chen Hou; Catarina Rydin; Niklas Wikström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Abstract : A central point of Darwin’s theory of evolution is that accumulation of many small changes during the evolutionary process can result in significant change over time. In light of his theory, plant scientists seek for and compare different plant traits among species e.g. READ MORE

  2. 22. Evolutionary studies of the Gnetales

    Author : Chen Hou; Catarina Rydin; Richard Saunders; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Abstract : The Gnetales consist of three distinct genera, Ephedra, Gnetum and Welwitschia with considerable divergence among them regarding morphological, ecological and molecular characters. A longstanding debate of the similarity between the Gnetales and angiosperms and the unresolved seed plant phylogeny intrigues plant scientists to further investigate the evolutionary history of the Gnetales. 3. 23. Phylogenetic and taxonomic studies within Arthonia Ach. (Ascomycetes, Arthoniales)

    Author : Rikard Sundin; Jan-Eric Mattsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; Plant Systematics; växtsystematik;

    Abstract : The taxonomy and phylogeny of the genus Arthonia was analysed. As a first step, a phylogenetic analysis was performed to test the monophyly of some of the infrageneric groups suggested by earlier authors. The results strongly support that Arthonia, Arthothelium and Arthoniaceae are paraphyletic. READ MORE

  4. 24. Polyporoid fungi of Tanzania : Taxonomy, transcriptomics and biochemical analyses of Kusaghiporia usambarensis and Piptoporellus baudonii

    Author : Juma Mahmud Hussein; Sanja Tibell Savić; Donatha Tibuhwa; Christina Wedén; Ulf Göransson; Jan Stenlid; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematics; Laetiporaceae; pharmacognosy; cysteine-rich peptide; baudonii; Biology with specialization in Systematics; Biologi med inriktning mot systematik;

    Abstract : Polyporoid fungi refers to basidiomycetes with fruiting bodies with the hymenium located to the inner surfaces of pores or narrow tubes. The majority of polyporoids belongs to Polyporales. Most Polyporales are saprobes, but some are plant pathogens. READ MORE

  5. 25. Fungal taxonomy and systematics in the digital era, with an outlook on the cantharelloid clade (Basidiomycota)

    Author : R. Henrik Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cantharelloid clade; ectomycorrhiza; Agaricomycetes; phyloinformatics; barcoding;

    Abstract : Fungi form a large and ubiquitous group of organisms where species identification and delimitation on morphological grounds often fall short. DNA sequences have proved an invaluable information source for these pursuits and are now routinely used in most mycological laboratories. READ MORE
