16. Synthesis and applications of low silica zeolites from Bolivian clay and diatomaceous earth
Abstract : The aim of the present work was to develop synthesis routes to produce synthetic zeolites with industrial attractiveness from non-expensive Bolivian raw materials, such as clays and diatomite. In particular, the work was focused on the synthesis of low-silica zeolites with the LTA and FAU structures. READ MORE

17. Transvascular exchange and organ perfusion with reference to colloid and hypertonic solutions, and to endotoxaemia
Abstract : Changes in vascular permeability can immensely change plasma volume and affect the degree of oedema in the body. In diseases with an increased vascular permeability, adequate fluid therapy is of considerable importance to prevent hypovolaemia. READ MORE

18. Method and technique development in peptide and protein mass Spectrometry
Abstract : Mechanistic studies and applicability of several methods and techniques for studying peptides and proteins with mass spectrometry are presented. A model for the protein molecular ion formation in explosive matrix-assisted plasma desorption mass spectrometry is proposed, involving a contribution from the chemical energy release during conversion of the explosive, an enhanced protonation through collisions with products from the explosive decay, and electron scavenging by other products. 19. Mini-Jet Production in Proton-Antiproton Interactions and Particle Production in Heavy-Ion Collisions
Abstract : The thesis is based on the data analysis and detector development of the EMU01/CERN, E863/BNL and UA1/CERN experiments. Particle fluctuations are studied with the scaled factorial moments in the fragmentation region of oxygen-induced emulsion interactions from 3.7 to 200 A GeV. READ MORE

20. Avian antibodies applied in particle enhanced turbidimetric immunoassay : Developement of serum/plasma calprotectin immunoassay and its clinical performance as a marker for bacterial infections
Abstract : Calprotectin is a cytosolic protein in the granulocytes, consisting of S100A8 and S100A9. On the site of inflammation, the neutrophils release the cytosol as an inflammatory response. The circulating calprotectin concentration increases and can therefore be used as marker for neutrophil activation and inflammation. READ MORE
