  1. 1. Human Glandular Kallikrein 2

    Author : Janita Lövgren; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; seminal plasma; semenogelin; PCI; serpin; zinc; cancer; prostate; PSA; hK2; serine protease; kallikrein; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Human glandular kallikrein 2 (hK2) is a serine protease, which is predominantly expressed by the prostate gland and found in seminal plasma at mean levels of 6 mg/ml. It has 79% amino acid sequence identity with prostate-specific antigen (PSA or hK3). READ MORE

  2. 2. The kallikrein-kinin system in primary hypertension : dynamics of circulating components of the kallikrein-kinin system in relation to the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system

    Author : K. Peter Öhman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : aldosterone; angiotensin Il; blood pressure; human; prekallikrein; renin; tissue kallikrein; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Kinins are potent vasodilatory and blood pressure lowering peptides, with additional effects on renal handling of electrolytes and water. The kallikrein-kinin system consists of two separate entities, one confined to the circulation and the other to both tissues and the circulation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Tissue kallikrein: pathophysiological role in acute pancreatitis

    Author : Mats Bläckberg; Helsingborg Kliniska Vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute pancreatitis; aprotinin; alpha-macroglobulin; alpha1-proteinase inhibitor; turn over; kinin B2 receptor; kallidin; bradykinin; Tissue kallikrein; kallistatin; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Tissue kallikrein releases pharmacollogically highly active kinins from kininogen. Many other enzymes may also release kinins. The aim of the study was to clarify the pathophysiological role of tissue kallikrein in acute pancreatitis. Two sensitive and specific radioimmunoassays for porcine and human tissue kallikrein were developed. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Kallikrein-Related Peptidases hK2 and PSA with Emphasis on Genetic Variation, Secretion, and Sperm Motility

    Author : Charlotta Sävblom; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; human glandular kallikrein 2; KLK3; hk2; prostate-specific antigen; PSA; sperm motility; seminal plasma; androgen receptor; SNP; CAG; KLK2;

    Abstract : Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and human glandular kallikrein 2 (hK2) are secreted by the prostate into seminal plasma and through leakage into blood. This leakage increases rapidly in prostate disease, and PSA is used worldwide as a marker of prostate cancer. READ MORE

  5. 5. Haemostatic changes in plasma for transfusion during preparation and storage

    Author : Anna-Maija Suontaka; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : transfusion plasma; cold activation; contact system; coagulation; fibrinolysis; citrates; methylene blue; fibrinogen; stability;

    Abstract : The haemostatic quality of plasma for transfusion is liable to be affected by techniques for preparation and storage. We have studied changes in the contact system, coagulation and fibrinolysis under the following conditions: blood drawn into a half-strength citrate anticoagulant solution, virus inactivation of plasma with methylene blue and red light, and plasma storage in the fluid phase.
