1. Asexual embryogenesis in plants
Abstract : The capacity of somatic cells and pollen grains or microspores to undergo embryogenesis is an important property used in improvement and regeneration of plants. Furthermore, somatic embryogenesis as well as pollen embryogenesis show many similarities with zygotic embryogenesis and are, thus, good model systems. READ MORE

2. Lipid Turnover in Plants and Yeast, A Study of Storage Lipid Synthesis and Lipid-Based Signalling in Plants and Yeast
Abstract : In this thesis, lipid biosynthesis is discussed focussing on the genes and enzymes involved in the final step of storage lipid synthesis, on the enzyme phospholipase A2, and on cell membrane lipid homeostasis. The investigation of lipid metabolism revealed that in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, there are four genes that are essential for the final step of storage lipid biosynthesis; ARE1, ARE2, DGA1, and LRO1. 3. Short and long term low temperature responses in Arabidopsis thaliana
Abstract : A unique aspect of plant biology is their ability to respond very rapidly to shifts in their ever-changing environment. To do this, plants need to have evolved mechanisms that enable them to sense their environment and to rapidly respond to different stresses and different combinations of stress. READ MORE

4. Mechanisms of unreduced gamete formation in Arabidopsis thaliana
Abstract : Polyploidy is a widespread phenomenon in plants, which is commonly believed to arise through the production of unreduced (2n) gametes due to meiotic failure. Despite the importance of unreduced gamete formation for plant polyploidization, the mechanisms leading to their formation are not well understood. READ MORE
