  1. 1. Modelling of laser plasma interaction with applications

    Author : Benjamin Svedung Wettervik; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electron wakefield acceleration; ion acceleration; coherent X-ray pulses; plasma; Vlasov-Maxwell equations; continuum methods; radiation generation;

    Abstract : The development of laser systems with ultra-high intensities has both opened up prospects for compact particle accelerators, as well as probing QED-effects, which are present in the high intensity regime. To describe laser matter interaction, it is necessary to self-consistently account for the paths of a large number of particles and the corresponding electromagnetic fields, with the addition of stochastic effects at high laser intensities. Author : Barbro Kollander; Jean Pettersson; Marit Andersson; Jonas Bergquist; Grethe Wibetoe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multi element analysis; trace element; ICP-AES; inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectromtery; water analysis; liver analysis; non digested samples; medical samples; biological samples; samples from biopsies and autopsies; mice organ; fast analysis; internal standard; preconcentration; matrix elimination; Cu; Zn; Mn; Co; Pb; Cd; Mg; Ca; Fe; Ni; Cr; S; P; K; Al; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes two different sample preparation strategies for inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), and their ability regarding multi element quantification in complex samples. Sensitivity, repeatability, reproducibility and accuracy were investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Usefulness of archival biobank samples for genetic epidemiologic studies

    Author : Malin Sjöholm; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : formailn-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue; biobank; serum; dried blood spots; plasma; archival samples;

    Abstract : Sweden has a long history of maintaining population-based registries and biobanks. This has resulted in large sample collections with long follow-up and large numbers of prospectively occurring disease endpoints providing an extensive resource for genetic research. READ MORE

  4. 4. Antibody based plasma protein profiling

    Author : Ulrika Qundos; Jochen M. Schwenk; Peter Nilsson; Mathias Uhlén; Ulrike Korf; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; protein profiling; plasma; antibody; affinity proteomics; biomark- ers; multiplex; assay development;

    Abstract : This thesis is about protein profiling in serum and plasma using antibody suspension bead arrays for the analysis of biobanked samples and in the context of prostate cancer biomarker discovery. The influence of sample preparation methods on antibody based protein profiles were investigated (Papers I-III) and a prostate cancer candidate biomarker identified and verified (Papers III-V). Abstract : Affinity-based proteomics offers opportunities for the discovery and validation of disease-associated proteins in human body fluids. This thesis describes the use of antibody-based immunoassays for multiplexed analysis of proteins in human plasma, serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). READ MORE
