  1. 1. Effects of Flow Structure on Particle Separation in Dissolved Air Flotation

    Author : Måns Lundh; Institutioner vid LTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plasma; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Gases; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; Teknik; Technological sciences; modelling; retention time distribution; acoustic doppler velocimeter; flow structure; separation; water treatment; wastewater treatment;

    Abstract : Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a separation process in water and wastewater treatment. The removal function is based on reducing the density of the particle by producing aggregates of the particles and added micro-bubbles of air, thus lifting the aggregates to the water surface, where they can be removed as sludge. 2. 2. Biomarker detection via lab-on-a-chip integrated immunoaffinity approach for fluorescence and mass spectrometry readout

    Author : Asilah Ahmad Tajudin; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; immunoaffinity; affinity prefractionation; immunoMALDI; solid-phase extraction; protein digestion; ISET; antibody microarray; signal amplification; fluorescence; microfluidics; lab on a chip; separation; acoustophoresis; ultrasound; acoustic radiation force; plasma; proteomics; MALDI mass spectrometry; immunoassay; porous silicon.;

    Abstract : The blood/plasma protein biomarker profile represents the pathological and physiological changes relating to human diseases. However, the plasma proteome reflects a high degree of complexity that results in a challenge for most analytical methods in clinical diagnostics. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pedestal structure and stability in JET-ILW and comparison with JET-C

    Author : Estera Stefanikova; Lorenzo Frassinetti; Per Brunsell; Joelle Mailloux; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; JET; Thomson scattering; pedestal; pedestal position; pedestal stability; Europed modelling; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Controlled thermonuclear fusion offers a promising concept for safe and sustainable production of electrical energy. However, there are still many issues to be investigated on the way to a commercial fusion reactor. An important point for detailed studies is connected to wall materials surrounding hot thermonuclear plasma. READ MORE

  4. 4. Microwave Gas and Multipactor Breakdown in Inhomogeneous Fields

    Author : Joel Rasch; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; corona; inhomogeneous fields; multipactor; Microwave breakdown;

    Abstract : Microwave gas and multipactor breakdown remains to be one of the limiting factors for the maximum power in microwave devices. Above a certain electric field strength, the so-called breakdown threshold, free electrons can multiply by making ionizing impacts with neutral gas molecules, or causing secondary emission upon impact with system surfaces. 5. 5. Plasma membrane arabinogalactan proteins

    Author : Lars Snogerup; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; arabinogalactan protein plant development cell-cell interaction plasma membrane; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Abstract : Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are proteoglycans found at the outer side of the plasma membrane and in the extracellular matrix of plants. To be able to study the plasma membrane bound AGPs, a method using SDS-agarose gel electrophoresis (SDS-AGE) was developed to overcome the problems associated with electrophoretic separation of highly glycosylated proteins.
