21. Studies on fibrin gel structure
Abstract : Fibrin gel formation is the final result of interaction between multiple plasma proteins; as a result of activation, fibrinogen is converted to fibrin and crosslinking of fibrin occurs by activated factor XIII, which stabilises the formed clot. Fibrin gel networks were studied in purified fibrinogen systems and in plasma samples from patients with cardiovascular complications and healthy individuals, using light-scattering, turbidity, liquid permeation and confocal 3D microscopy techniques. 22. Hyperbaric oxygen. Effects on ischemia-reperfusion
Abstract : Treatment with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) is controversial when treating other disorders than decompression sickness. However, HBO2 is a treatment modality that has gained recognition in certain ischemia-reperfusion situations. READ MORE

23. Plasmin : a potent pro-inflammatory factor
Abstract : Plasmin, the central molecule of the plasminogen activator system, is a broad-spectrum serine protease. Plasmin is important for the degradation of fibrin and other components of the extracellular matrix (ECM) during a number of physiological and pathological processes. READ MORE

24. Invasion promoting factors in endometriotic and endometrial tissue
Abstract : Endometriosis is a common gynaecologic disorder, affecting women of fertile age with pelvic pain and infertility, and is characterized by the presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterine cavity. Retrograde shed endometrial fragments are presumed to adhere to pelvic structures and grow invasively, thereby creating endometriotic tissue. READ MORE

25. TGFβ Signal Transduction in Endothelial Cells
Abstract : Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) is a multifunctional cytokine that is involved in many biological effects, such as proliferation, migration, differentiation and cell survival. TGFβ regulates cellular responses by binding to a heteromeric complex of type I and type II serine/threonine kinase receptors. READ MORE
