1. Strategies for Utilizing Biobased and Recycled Resources for Polylactide Plasticization
Abstract : There are many aspects that should be considered to achieve truly "environmental friendly" and "sustainable" materials. These include the raw material resource, the energy consumption, the chemicals generated and used, the emissions during production, processing, transportation, disposal and so on. READ MORE

2. Effects of plasticizing and crosslinking on coatings based on blends of starch-PVOH and starch-lignin
Abstract : A barrier material is usually needed on a fiber-based food package to protect the packed food from gases and moisture and thus maintain its quality. Barrier materials presently used in food packaging applications are mostly petroleum-based polymers. READ MORE

3. Effects of plasticizing and crosslinking on the mechanical and barrier properties of coatings based on blends of starch and poly(vinyl alcohol)
Abstract : In the last decades, intensive research has been carried out in order to replace oil-based polymers with bio-based polymers due to growing environmental concerns. So far, most of the barrier materials used in food packaging are petroleum-based materials. READ MORE

4. Environmentally Friendly Plasticizers for PVC : Improved Material Properties and Long-term Performance Through Plasticizer Design
Abstract : Linear and branched poly(butylene adipate) polyesters with number-average molecular weights ranging from 700 to 10 000 g/mol, and degrees of branching ranging from very low to hyperbranched were solution cast with PVC to study the effects of chemical structure, molecular weight, end-group functionality, and chain architecture on plasticizing efficiency and durability. Miscibility was evaluated by the existence of a single glass transition temperature and a shift of the carbonyl group absorption band. READ MORE

5. Chemical emissions from concrete
Abstract : The major part of this work deals with a new method for quantification of VOCs in concrete. There is a need for this type of quantification due to the development in cement and concrete production using plasticizing agents and fillers for improved rheological properties, and alternative fuels and waste materials to reduce the environmental impact of cement production.
