1. Plate bonding : strengthening of existing concrete structures with epoxy bonded plates of steel or fibre reinforced plastics
Abstract : This thesis deals with several aspects of the plate bonding problem, i.e. when steel or fibre reinforced plastics (FRP) plates are bonded to a concrete structure with the use of an epoxy adhesive. Both theoretical work and laboratory tests are presented as well as a full scale test on a strengthened concrete bridge. READ MORE

2. Dynamic Plate and Shell Equations Using Power Series Expansions - Applications Including Elasticity, Poroelasticity and Fluid Loading
Abstract : Thin structures are used in a wide range of engineering applications. The subject of this thesis is the derivation of approximate equations for the dynamics of thin plates and shells using series expansion methods. READ MORE

3. Space-Time Prediction of Ocean Winds
Abstract : The topic of this thesis is inspired by an experiment in which a vessel, laying a submarine cable, was provided with forecasts overlaid with satellite observations of significant wave height. During the operation, the vessel was close to an adverse weather area and the personnel on board could confirm that the forecast was not as close to the "ground truth" as the satellite observation was. 4. Linear and Non-Linear Analysis of Plates and Shells by Use of Morley Finite Elements
Abstract : The thesis deals with plate bending analysis and shell analysis in static linear and dynamic non-linear situations. The thesis contains two parts. In common for them is the use of the Germain-Kirchhoff plate theory, constant strain, constant curvature triangular plate elements and adaptive improvement of original solution. READ MORE

5. Wave Splitting and Effective Boundary Conditions for Structural Elements
Abstract : The subject of this thesis is twofold. The first part concerns the wave splitting of structural elements. The second part concerns approximate boundary conditions for fluid-loaded thin plates. Wave splitting is a mathematical tool for the formulation of scattering problems in the time domain that aims at solving inverse problems, e. READ MORE
