  1. 1. Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1 in Platelets - Studies of Synthesis, Activity, and Glycosylation Patterns

    Author : Helén Brogren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : PAI-1; platelets; plasma; fibrinolysis; synthesis; polymorphism; glycosylation; activity; platelet mRNA;

    Abstract : Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) is the main physiological inhibitor of tissue-type plasminogen activator. Thus PAI-1 plays an important role in decreasing the fibrinolytic activity in human blood. PAI-1 is present in high concentrations in platelets and also in low concentrations in plasma, but the source of plasma PAI-1 is not known. READ MORE

  2. 2. Aspects of Plasminiogen Activator Inhibitor 1 in Metabolic Syndrome

    Author : Karin Mossberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PAI-1; metabolic syndrome; obesity; type 2 diabetes; cardiovascular disease; fibrinolysis; thrombi; plasma; platelets; adipose tissue; mRNA; qPCR; reference gene;

    Abstract : Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) is the main inhibitor of the fibrinolytic system and binds irreversibly to tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA), and thereby inhibits the protective action of t-PA against thrombus formation. Elevated levels of plasma PAI-1 is observed in subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and the metabolic syndrome (MetS), which is a combination of metabolic features including obesity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Novel Agonists and Antagonists of Platelet Receptors

    Author : Carl Högberg; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Platelets; P2Y12; SUCNR1; FPP; hypothermia;

    Abstract : Platelets are central for the primary haemostatis. The platelet has surface bound receptors that are vital for the platelet activation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Functional Studies of Collagen-Binding Integrins α2β1 and α11β1 : Interplay between Integrins and Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptors

    Author : Gunilla Grundström; Kristofer Rubin; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Integrins are heterodimeric cell surface receptors, composed of an α- and a β-subunit, which mediate cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions. Integrins mediate intracellular signals in response to extracellular stimuli, and cooperate with growth factor and other cytokine receptors. READ MORE

  5. 5. Regulation of the platelet-derived growth factor β-receptor

    Author : Catrin Molander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PDGF; inflammation; TNF-a; tyrosine kinase; medulloblastoma; Myc; NF-Y; Sp1;

    Abstract : Growth factors are important signalling molecules, regulating cell growth, as well as cell movement, differentiation and apoptosis. They bind to specific receptors on the cell surface causing activation of the receptors. Activated receptors then attract adaptor molecules that brings the signal further into the cell. READ MORE
