  1. 1. Chronic pain and quality of life among older people

    Author : Ulf Jakobsson; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Activities of daily living; Social medicine; Socialmedicin; PMI; MPI-S; Sickness Impact Profile; LGC; SF-12; quality of life; pain relief; pain measurement; chronic pain; pain; Aged; aged 80 years and over; fatigue; samhällsmedicin; ADL;

    Abstract : The overall aim was to investigate chronic pain, quality of life and factors associated with pain as well as with quality of life among older people, aged 75 years and above. Further, the aim was to investigate the use of methods for pain management and their effects for those with pain and in need of help for daily living. READ MORE

  2. 2. Effects of a single prolonged milking interval in cows : study of indicators and mediators of inflammation, milk composition and yield

    Author : Branislav Lakic; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : A single prolonged milking interval (PMI), such as might be associated with technical failures in automatic milking systems, leads to a subsequent somatic cell count (SCC) peak in bulk tank milk. Increased SCC indicates mastitis in cows. READ MORE

  3. 3. Precision measurement instruments for machinery's mechanical compliance: design and operation : Measurement instruments for physics-based calibration of advanced manufacturing machinery

    Author : Nikolas Alexander Theissen; Andreas Archenti; Alexander Slocum; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Measurement instruments; Machine tools; Industrial robots; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Abstract :  Precision Measurement Instruments (PMIs) for machinery’s mechanical compliance are tools to quantify mechanical load as well as length for measurement ranges of 0.1 µm to 10 m at uncertainty levels of 0.1 µm to 100 µm while exerting mechanical loads. READ MORE

  4. 4. Forensic taphonomy in an indoor setting : Implications for estimation of the post-mortem interval

    Author : Ann-Sofie Ceciliason; Ingemar Thiblin; Håkan Sandler; M. Gunnar Andersson; Anders Lindström; Niels Lynnerup; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Forensic taphonomy; Indoor setting; Post-mortem interval estimation; Hepatic decomposition score; Total body score; microbial neoformation; Rättsmedicin; Forensic Medicine;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to determine if and how taphonomic data can be used to expand our knowledge concerning the decompositional process in an indoor setting, as well as adapting scoring-based methods for quantification of human decomposition, to increase the precision of post-mortem interval (PMI) estimates.In the first paper, the established methods of Total Body Score (TBS) and Accumulated Degree-Days (ADD) were investigated in an indoor setting, with results indicating a fairly low precision. 5. 5. Sickness absence, disability pension, and permanent medical impairment after a car crash

    Author : Rasmus Elrud; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Road traffic injuries constitute a major public health problem worldwide. Permanent medical impairment (PMI) is used as a measure of seriousness of injuries in Sweden. READ MORE
