    Abstract : Polymer nanocomposites are promising materials for dielectrical use in high voltage applications and insulations. This work presents a study of nanocomposites based on poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) with two different comonomer compositions and two different aluminium oxide nanoparticles. READ MORE

  2. 2. Preparation and Compatibilizing Properties of Poly(styrene-graft-ethylene oxide) in Polymer Blends

    Author : Patric Jannasch; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anionic Polymerization of Ethylene Oxide; Polystyrene; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Ethoxylation; Grafting; Poly styrene-graft-ethylene oxide ; Crystallization; Interphases; Macrophases; Poly butyl acrylate ; Compatibilization of Polymer Blends; Polyamide;

    Abstract : One of the main trends in the polymer industry today is the increasing importance of polymer blends. Combining two or more immiscible polymers in a polymer blend often leads to multi-phase materials with desirable properties. READ MORE

  3. 3. Poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) Preparation and Properties in Polymer Blends

    Author : Åsa Halldén; Centrum för analys och syntes; []

    Abstract : This thesis describes the preparation, characterisation and properties of poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) (PE-PEO). The grafting reaction was carried out with the grafting onto method using the carboxylic acid groups of poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (PEAA) as reactive sites in an esterification reaction with poly(ethylene oxide) mono-methyl ethers (MPEO) of varying molecular weights: 750, 2000 and 5000. Abstract : Ion-containing polymeric materials are interesting for use in a wide variety of applications, where the flexible, yet mechanically stable, polymer matrix is essential. Intensive research is presently going on worldwide for applications as electrolytes in solid polymer batteries and fuel cells, where the ion-conducting polymer also serves as an electrode separator. 5. 5. Ternary Block Copolymer - Water - "Oil" Systems: Effects of "Oil" Type and Block Size on Phase Behaviour and Structure

    Author : Peter Holmqvist; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; poly propylene oxide ; poly ethylene oxide ; poloxamer; micelles; lyotropic liquid crystals; SAXS; structure; phase behavior; self-assembly; block copolymers; amphiphiles; poly tetrahydrofurane ; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : It has recently been established in our group that amphiphilic block copolymers consisting of a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic part can self-assemble in the presence of selective solvents (“water” and “oil”) into a variety of different solution and lyotropic liquid crystalline microstructures. The effects of the “oil” type, hydrophilic block size and hydrophobic block type on the phase behavior and microstructure of ternary isothermal copolymer - oil - water systems have been addressed in this thesis.
