  1. 1. Biodegradable Thermoplastic Elastomers

    Author : Basse Asplund; Jöns Hilborn; Tim Bowden; Iskender Yilgör; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Chemistry; poly urethane ; poly urethane urea ; biomaterial; biodegradable; polymer; thermoplastic elastomer; haemocomatible; tissue engineering; biocompatible; Kemi;

    Abstract : A novel strategy for synthesising segmented poly(urethane urea) (PUU) without using a chain extender but nevertheless with the opportunity to vary the hard segment content has been developed. The strategy is based on amine formation from isocyanate upon reaction with water. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure Dependent Chemical and Biological Interactions of Poly(urethane urea)s

    Author : Katrin Gisselfält; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biomaterial; synthesis; hydrogen bonding; biological interactions; structure; properties; poly urethane urea ;

    Abstract : Poly(urethane urea)s, PUURs, are widely used in both industrial and biological applications because of excellent physical and mechanical properties and good biocompatibility in a variety of applications. Both the processing and the tailoring of specific properties of PUUR demand great knowledge of structure-property relationships. READ MORE

  3. 3. Amphiphilic Polymers as Additives in Biomedical Polyurethanes. Surface Properties and Morphology

    Author : Maria Kober; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer micelles; phase separation; migration; poly ethylene oxide ; surface enrichment; morphology; polyurethane; additives; Surface modification; amphiphilic polymers; polymer blends; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to achieve surface modification of two biomedical polyurethanes and one poly(urethane urea) through the addition of small amounts of amphiphilic copolymers in solution. The matrix polymers used were the poly(ether urethane)s Pellethane 2363-80AE (P80) and 2363-75D (P75) and a poly(ether urethane urea) similar to Biomer (PUUR). READ MORE

  4. 4. Strategies for building polymers from renewable sources : Using prepolymers from steam treatment of wood and monomers from fermentation of agricultural products

    Author : Margaretha Söderqvist Lindblad; KTH; []
    Keywords : renewable sources; biodegradable polymers; hemicellulose; 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate; modification of hemicellulose; methacrylation reaction; rheology measurements; dynamic-mechanical behavior; 1; 3-propanediol; 1; 4-cyclohexanedimethanol; succinic ac;

    Abstract : A strategic research area today is development of polymericproducts made from renewable sources. The ways of utilizingrenewable sources studied in this thesis are using 1)prepolymers obtained by steam treatment of wood and 2) monomersobtainable by fermentation of agricultural products. 5. 5. New biodegradable polymers from renewable resources

    Author : Yan Liu; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : High molecular weight poly(ester-carbonate)s have beenprepared by a two-step chain-extension reaction performed onoligomeric αω-bishydroxyl-terminatedpoly(1,3-propylene succinate).αω-Bishydroxyl-terminated copolymeric oligomers of1,3-propylene succinate/1,4-cyclohexanedimethylene succinatewere obtained by thermal polycondensation of1,3-propanediol/1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol/succinic acidmixtures having different composition, and subsequently chainextended using phosgene as coupling agent, which leads toaliphatic/alicyclic copoly(ester-carbonate)s.
