  1. 1. True Monoliths as Separation Media : Homogeneous Gels for Electrophoresis and Electrochromatography in the Capillary and Microchip Modes

    Author : Ákos Végvári; Douglas Westerlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; capillary electrophoresis; capillary electrochromatography; gel electrophoresis; agarose; polyacrylamide; b-cyclodextrin; DNA; peptide; glutathione; drug enantiomers; microchip; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The thesis focuses on the development of new homogeneous gels for the separation of drug enantiomers, peptides, DNA and virus by electrophoresis and electrochromatography in capillaries and microchips. This type of separation media offers high resolution and small zone broadening. READ MORE

  2. 2. MRI evaluation and image processing in gel dosimetry. A study of selected MRI properties and image processing in 3D gel dosimetry

    Author : Peter Magnusson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; image registering; multi-slice; slice profile; ferrous sulphate; polyacrylamide; 3D volume acquisition; RF field; B1 field; relaxation time; T1; T2; spin-echo; multi-spin-echo; stochastic noise; nonuniformity; SNR; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Gel dosimetry is a new dosimetry method applied in radiation therapy. Gel dosimeters consist of a radiation sensitive gel, which can integrate absorbed doses from several radiation sources or beams. The dose to the gel can be evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a procedure that is the focus of the present thesis. READ MORE

  3. 3. Study of Paper Dry Strength Additives on Cellulose Fibres

    Abstract : Paper packaging is commonly found in the form of paper and cardboard boxes, but recently paper packing is being used in food packaging, trays, beverage packaging and even paper straws, among others. Paper strength additives have been developed to increase the efficiency of the joint strength and the joint areas and potentially maintain bulk in paper products. READ MORE

  4. 4. Polyelectrolyte adsorption on oppositely charged surfaces - Conformation and adsorption kinetics

    Author : Lars-Erik Enarsson; Lars Wågberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyelectrolyte adsorption; adsorption kinetics; adsorption isotherms; conformation; bridging; stagnation point adsorption reflectometry; quartz crystal microgravimetry; polyelectrolyte titration; cationic polyacrylamide; cationic dextran; colloidal silica; silica surfaces; pulp; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Denna avhandling presenterar experimentella studier av polyelektrolytadsorption på motsatt laddade ytor, där substrat av både kiseloxid och blekt barrsulfatmassa har använts. Ett huvudsakligt syfte med denna forskning var att karaktärisera konformationen hos adsorberade skikt av katjonisk polyakrylamid (CPAM) i jämförelse med katjonisk dextran (Cdextran) och relatera denna information till inbindningskapaciteten av kolloidal kiselsyra. 5. 5. Blue native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis - a functional approach to plant plasma membrane proteome studies

    Author : Jonas Kjell; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dodecyl maltoside; BN-PAGE; plant plasma membrane; protein complexes;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I have shown that a method called BN-PAGE (a kind of native gel electrophoresis) can be used for studying the protein composition in the plasma membrane of plants. The method enables the study of native (in the functional units) hydrophobic protein complexes, i.e. READ MORE
