  1. 1. Cellobiose dehydrogenase on electrodes - an electrochemical biosensor for various analytes tunable by positive charges

    Author : Christopher Schulz; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cellobiose dehydrogenase; direct electron transfer; amperometric biosensor; glucose; lactose; cellobiose; calcium; polycation; graphite; gold; electrode;

    Abstract : Cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) is a sugar oxidizing enzyme secreted by various species of wood degrading fungi to assist the process of wood degradation. It can oxidise analytically relevant sugars as cellobiose, lactose or glucose leading to a gain of two electrons per sugar molecule. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the binding of growth-promoting polyamines to proteoglycans: Implications for growth-regulation and polycation-mediated gene transfer

    Author : Mattias Belting; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; cationic lipid.; gene transfer; gene therapy; cell growth; polyamine transport; spermine; polyamine; growth-inhibition; heparan sulphate; dermatan sulphate; Proteoglycan; glycosaminoglycan; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : Initial investigations were directed at studying the interaction between polyamines and various glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). The polyamine spermine displayed binding to dermatan sulphate (DS) and heparan sulphate (HS) with similar (Kd, 3.9 x 10-4 M) and higher (Kd, 0.37 x 10-6 M) affinity, respectively, than to DNA. 3. 3. Tailored Reaction Media for the Synthesis of Subvalent Cluster Compounds

    Author : Josefin Åkerstedt; Lars Kloo; Sven Lidin; Ulf Gedde; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Different synthetic approaches and modifications to reaction media have been applied in order to find new routes to the synthesis of main-group clusters and transition metal compounds. The focus has been on the Group 15 element bismuth and the transition metal palladium. READ MORE

  4. 4. Poly (3-hydroxybutyrate) from a moderate halophile: production and modification for new applications

    Author : Marlene Munoz; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biopolymers; polyhydroxyalkanoates; polyhydroxybutyrate; moderate halophile; Halomonas boliviensis; fermentation; recovery; thermally induced phase separation; scaffolds; covalent modification; hydrophobic ion pairing; polyethylenemine; lysozyme.;

    Abstract : Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a homopolymer belonging to the family of biopolyesters, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) produced by different bacteria and archaea as intracellular granules often under conditions of metabolic stress due to a limited supply of essential nutrients. The properties of the PHAs are similar to those of polyethylene and polypropylene and can hence replace these fossil based polymers in a large variety of applications. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electrolyte-Gated Organic Thin-Film Transistors

    Author : Lars Herlogsson; Magnus Berggren; Hagen Klauk; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Organic electronics; Thin-film transistor; Organic semiconductor; Polymer; Electrolyte; Polyelectrolyte; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : There has been a remarkable progress in the development of organic electronic materials since the discovery of conducting polymers more than three decades ago. Many of these materials can be processed from solution, in the form as inks. READ MORE
