1. Poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) Preparation and Properties in Polymer Blends
Abstract : This thesis describes the preparation, characterisation and properties of poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) (PE-PEO). The grafting reaction was carried out with the grafting onto method using the carboxylic acid groups of poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (PEAA) as reactive sites in an esterification reaction with poly(ethylene oxide) mono-methyl ethers (MPEO) of varying molecular weights: 750, 2000 and 5000. 2. Polyethylene – metal oxide particle nanocomposites for future HVDC cable insulation : From interface tailoring to designed performance
Abstract : Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) nanocomposites containing metal oxide nanoparticles are considered as promising candidates for insulating materials in future high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) cables. The significant improvement in dielectric properties compared with unfilled polymer is attributed to the large and active interface between the nanoparticles and the polymer. READ MORE

3. Fundamentals of Polyethylene Composites for HVDC Cable Insulation – Interfaces and Charge Carriers
Abstract : Power transmission over long distances by using high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables is important for the transition from fossil energy to using renewable energy sources, e.g. wind, solar and water. READ MORE

4. Polyethylene/metal oxide nanocomposites for electrical insulation in future HVDC-cables : probing properties from nano to macro
Abstract : Nanocomposites of polyethylene and metal oxide nanoparticles have shown to be a feasible approachto the next generation of insulation in high voltage direct current cables. In order to reach an operationvoltage of 1 MV new insulation materials with reduced conductivity and increased breakdown strengthas compared to modern low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is needed. 5. The synthesis, surface modification and use of metal-oxide nanoparticles in polyethylene for ultra-low transmission-loss HVDC cable insulation materials
Abstract : Polyethylene composites which contain low concentrations of metal-oxide nanoparticles e.g. ZnO and MgO are emerging materials for the use in insulations of extruded high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) cables. READ MORE
