  1. 16. Design of new biodegradable polymer matrices for controlled drug delivery

    Author : Ulrica Edlund; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Conventional drug administration technologies display poorcontrollability, and lead to high plasma concentrations andshort duration times, which frequently lead to adverse effects.Controlled release technology aims at predictable andreproducible delivery of an active substance over an extendedperiod of time, yielding optimal response and prolongedefficiency, and thus offering considerable improvement of manytreatments. 2. 17. Environment-Sensitive Multifunctional Drug Delivery Systems

    Author : Jian Qin; Mamoun Muhammed; Marcus Textor; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi;

    Abstract : Drug delivery systems (DDS) with multiple functionalities such as environment-sensitive drug release mechanisms and visualization agents have motivated the biomedical community as well as materials chemists for more than a decade. This dissertation is concerned with the development of nanoparticles for multifunctional DDS  to tackle several crucial challenges in these complex systems, including polymeric nanospheres which respond to temperature change, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles/polymeric composite for magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents and drug carriers, immunoresponse of nanomaterials and injectable magnetic field sensitive ferrogels. 3. 18. New Materials and Improved Ambient Techniques in Mass Spectrometry

    Author : Nicolò Riboni; Leopold Ilag; Elisa Robotti; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass Spectrometry; Solid Phase Microextraction; Ambient Mass Spectrometry; Desorption Electrospray Ionization; Paper Spray Ionization; Cavitands; BTEX; New Psychoactive Substances; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Mass spectrometry (MS) is used in several fields, e.g. biology, environmental monitoring, medicine and forensics due to excellent qualitative and quantitative capabilities. The development of new instrumental setups and ionization sources is crucial to analyze a variety of compounds at trace levels. READ MORE

  4. 19. degradable electroactive polymers: Synthesis, Macromolecular architecture and scaffold design

    Author : Baolin Guo; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Patric Jannasch; KTH; []
    Keywords : Poly lactide ; poly ε-caprolactone ; ring-opening polymerization; carboxyl-capped aniline trimer; carboxyl-capped aniline pentamer; phenyl amino-capped aniline tetramer; coupling reaction; DCC DMAP system; degradability; electroactivity; conductivity; macromolecular architecture; chitosan; hydrogel; block copolymer; functionalization; oxidative coupling reaction; self-assembly; toxicity; tubular porous scaffold; neural tissue engineering.;

    Abstract : Electrically conducting polymers induce specific cellular responses at the molecular level. One of the crucial limitations of the use of conducting polymers in tissue engineering is their inability to degrade. READ MORE

  5. 20. Novel Porous Films from Functional and Biocompatible Linear-Dendritic Hybrids

    Author : Marie V. Walter; Michael Malkoch; Steve P. Rannard; KTH; []
