1. Macromolecular design and architecture of aliphatic polyesters
Abstract : Public health care has reached a level where tissue or organ reconstruction by means of biodegradable short-term implants via e.g. tissue engineering will be practicable in the near future. READ MORE

2. Synthesis, characterization and molecular architecture of electroactive and degradable polymers
Abstract : The third-generation biomaterials are designed to stimulate specific cellular responses at the molecular level. Recent studies have shown that electrical signals regulate cellular activities including cell adhesion, migration, proliferation and differentiation. READ MORE

3. Novel methods to synthesize aliphatic polyesters of vivid architectures
Abstract : Cross-linked films of ε-caprolactone (CL) and 1,5-dioxepan-2-one (DXO) having various mole fractions of monomers and different cross-link densities were prepared using 2,2’-bis-(-caprolactone-4-yl) propane (BCP) as cross-linking agent and Sn(Oct)2 as catalyst. Reaction parameters were examined to optimize the film-forming conditions. READ MORE

4. Polymer Nanocomposites in Thin Film Applications
Abstract : The introduction of a nanoscopic reinforcing phase to a polymer matrix offers great possibilities of obtaining improved properties, enabling applications outside the boundaries of traditional composites. The majority of the work in this thesis has been devoted to polymer/clay nanocomposites in coating applications, using the hydroxyl-functional hyperbranched polyester Boltorn® as matrix and montmorillonite clay as nanofiller. 5. Tailoring Surface Properties of Bio-Fibers via Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization
Abstract : The potential use of renewable, bio-based polymers in high-technological applications has attracted great interest due to increased environmental concern. Cellulose is the most abundant biopolymer resource in the world, and it has great potential to be modified to suit new application areas. READ MORE
