  1. 1. Cu(I) stabilizing polymers for marine anti-fouling applications

    Author : Alireza Movahedi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coordinating polymers; copper; anti-fouling coatings; CuAAC; triazole; epoxide.; polymer functionalization; click chemistry;

    Abstract : The growth of marine organisms on immersed surfaces in seawater is known as biofouling and causes several problems for marine transportation. The need to combat fouling is thus of great importance. Copper has to be used in extreme amounts to act as an efficient biocide. READ MORE

    Abstract : Efforts to address environmental concerns have resulted in new regulations designed to plan the reduction of plastic and synthetic polymer usage, necessitating the search for sustainable natural alternatives with comparable cost-effectiveness and mechanical performance. Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) fibres are one of the most affordable natural fibres that have no chemical refining in production, production have a high yield of 90-98% and TMP fibres have been demonstrated to improve the mechanical characteristics (strength, stiffness and toughness) of wood-polymer composites (WPCs) compared to the pure polymer. 3. 3. Biomolecule Trapping With Stimuli-Responsive Polymer Coated Nanostructures

    Author : Justas Svirelis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biomolecule transportation; protein interaction; polymer brushes; quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring; fluorescence microscopy; Poly N-Isopropylacrylamide ; surface plasmon resonance; poly ethylene glycol ;

    Abstract : Trapping biomolecules in nanosized gaps is of great interest in novel systems for single molecule analysis and membranes, which filter biomolecules. Current platforms are lacking in full functionality to facilitate biomolecule trapping and transport in their native environment and without covalent tethering to surfaces. READ MORE

  4. 4. Interpolymer complexation of a polymer brush

    Author : John Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; functional materials; macromolecular gating; Interpolymer complex; nanopores; polymer brush; pH responsive;

    Abstract : Controllable macromolecular gating between nanoscopic compartments is of high interest for single molecule studies of biological macromolecules. By definition, a good macromolecular gate should completely stop biomolecules, such as proteins, from crossing between compartments in its closed state while letting them pass in its open state. 5. 5. Polysaccharide thin film studies - Adsorption of oxidized xylan on cellulose

    Author : Chonnipa Palasingh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Wood xylans are renewable natural materials that have potential for future use in bio-based products. However, their high price and low production capacity restrict their industrial use and current applications. This research aimed to explore the potential of wood xylans for film applications.
