  1. 1. Toward Predictive Maintenance in a Cloud Manufacturing Environment : A population-wide approach

    Author : Bernard Schmidt; Lihui Wang; Amos H. C. Ng; Fuqing Yuan; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; predictive maintenance; condition monitoring; population-wide approach; machine learning; double ball-bar measurement; Production and Automation Engineering; Produktion och automatiseringsteknik;

    Abstract : The research presented in this thesis is focused on improving industrial maintenance by using better decision support that is based on a wider range of input information. The core objective is to research how to integrate information from a population of similar monitored objects. READ MORE

  2. 2. Using systems genetics to explore the complexity of leaf shape variation in Populus tremula

    Author : Barbara Terebieniec; Nathaniel Street; Chung-Jui Tsai; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Populus; Arabidopsis; systems biology; systems genetics; spatial transcriptomics ST ; single nucleotide polymorphism SNP ; Genome wide associations study GWAS ; expression GWAS eGWAS ; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Leaves are essential for sustaining humanity as they function as the energy and oxygen-producing organ of plants. Intensive research on physiological processes has contributed immensely to our understanding of the function of leaves. However, comparatively little is known about how leaf size and shape is determined. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the Evolution of the Avian Transcriptome

    Author : Severin Uebbing; Hans Ellegren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; evolution; gene expression; regulation; RNA-seq; transcriptomics; proteomics; sex chromosome; dosage compensation; divergence; ASE; birds; Ficedula; flycatcher; chicken; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Abstract : Change in gene expression is a powerful tool for evolution, because seemingly small expression changes can contribute important steps towards adaptation without necessarily affecting the whole organism. There is still much to learn about how gene expression evolves on genome- and population-wide levels, especially in non-model organisms. READ MORE

  4. 4. Family, Neighborhoods, and Health : Conditions for the Development of Human Capabilities

    Author : Evelina Björkegren; Helena Svaleryd; Hans Grönqvist; Erik Plug; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Health; Inequality; Mortality; Intergenerational Mobility; Birth-order; Neighborhoods; Birth; Childhood; Youth; Capabilities; Education; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : Essay 1: We use data from a large sample of adoptees born in Sweden to decompose the intergenerational persistence in health inequality across generations into one pre-birth component, measured by the biological parents’ longevity, and one post-birth component, measured by the adopting parents’ longevity. We find that most of the health inequality is transmitted via pre-birth factors. READ MORE
