  1. 1. Residual and critical saturation in geological storage of CO2 : results from field studies, pore-network modelling and laboratory experiments

    Author : Ramin Moghadasi; Auli Niemi; Philip Ringrose; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geological CO2 storage; Residual trapping; Gas remobilization; Field experiment; Numerical modelling; Pore-network modelling; Pore-scale imaging;

    Abstract : Geological storage of CO2 in deep saline aquifers is a promising technology in the combat to reduce the atmospheric emissions of CO2. A critical component in this solution is the estimation of aquifer’s in situ capability to store CO2. READ MORE

  2. 2. The self-spreading double bilayer/Advances in lipid membrane nanotechnology

    Author : Irep Gözen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nanotechnology; pore; lipid double bilayer; rupture; crackling noise; tension; self-spreading; vesicle; flat giant unilamellar vesicle; viscous fingering.;

    Abstract : In my thesis I describe the generation, characterization and uses of self-spreading double bilayers. This new type of solid-supported model membrane combines features and properties of the 2D lipid bilayer membrane, and the 3D phospholiposome. The double bilayer membrane, i.e. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanisms of transendothelial and tissue transport in the peritoneum. Experimental studies on rat

    Author : Bert-Inge Rosengren; Njurmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nefrologi; Urologi; hyaluronan; interstitium; blood flow; rat; pore; inhibition; temperature; peritoneal dialysis; permeability; capillary; protein; passive; active; transport; transcytosis; vesicle; Urology; nephrology; small solute;

    Abstract : In the present thesis, the quantitative role of active transport (transcytosis) in bulk transvascular protein movement in vivo was evaluated. Using chemical transcytosis inhibition (N-ethylmaleimide (NEM) and filipin), we were able to show that NEM actually increases endothelial permeability to macromolecules, probably as a result of unspecific toxic action on endothelial cells. 5. 5. Process Models for CO2 Migration and Leakage : Gas Transport, Pore-Scale Displacement and Effects of Impurities

    Author : Farzad Basirat; Auli Niemi; Karsten Jensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geological Carbon Storage; CO2 leakage; Field experiment; Laboratory experiment design; Multi-phase flow; Heterogeneity; Wettability; Pore-scale modeling; Impurity gases; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Geological Carbon Storage (GCS) is considered as one of the key techniques to reduce the rate of atmospheric emissions of CO2 and thereby to contribute to controlling the global warming. A successful application of a GCS project requires the capability of the formation to trap CO2 for a long term. READ MORE
