  1. 1. Positional Accuracy of Drilled Holes

    Author : Jacek K Kaminski; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; corresponding cutting forces; chip areas; workpiece material; drill wandering; rigidity; drill length; hole-making; surface slope; hole positional accuracy; drilling; conventional point geometry; high-speed steel twist drills; cutting resistance;

    Abstract : When selecting hole-making sequences, the positional accuracy mainly is determined during the first drilling operation. This dissertation consists of three papers which consider the influence of various factors on hole positional accuracy when drilling in inclined workpieces using high-speed steel twist drills with conventional point geometry. 2. 2. Controlling the dynamic characteristics of machining systems through consciously designed joint interfaces

    Author : Constantinos Frangoudis; Cornel Mihai Nicolescu; Amir Rashid; Bulent Tasdelent; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Production; machine tool; machining system control; joint interfaces; JIM; stiffness; damping; vibrations; machining process; milling; turning; deflections; accuracy; dynamic response;

    Abstract : The precision of machining systems is ever increasing in order to keep up with components’ accuracy requirements. At the same time product variants areincreasing and order quantities are decreasing, which introduces high demands on the capability of machining systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ensuring the intended volume is given the intended absorbed dose in radiotherapy: Managing geometric variations and treatment hazards

    Author : Ola Holmberg; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; safety; risk; hazard; organ motion; set-up; margins; volume definition; radiotherapy; accuracy; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik;

    Abstract : Methods for ensuring that the intended volume receives the intended absorbed dose in radiotherapy have been investigated. In order to optimise radiation treatment of cancer, geometric variations in the treatment chain need to be controlled. Furthermore, hazards potentially leading to unintended irradiation need to be controlled. READ MORE

  4. 4. Remote Sensing and Gis for Groundwater Assessment in Hard Rock Areas. Applications to Water Well Siting in Ghana and Botswana

    Author : Per Sander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; probabilistic approach; GIS; remote sensing; Ghana; hard rock; Botswana; groundwater assessment; lineaments;

    Abstract : Different types of remote sensing data have been evaluated in this thesis with respect to their potential use in groundwater assessment in hard rock areas. The primary objectives of the study have been (1) to evaluate the interpretation of groundwater indicators from high resolution satellite images and aerial photography and (2) to investigate how remote sensing interpretations subsequently can be integrated with other pertinent data, as a decision support in water well siting under difficult hydrogeological conditions. 5. 5. Computerized vectorcardiography for on-line cardiac monitoring in non-cardiac surgery

    Author : Per Gannedahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Anesthesia electrocardiography intraoperative monitonng laparoscopy myocardial ischemia vascularsurgery vectorcardiography. Stockholm 1997;

    Abstract : Perioperative cardiac morbidity (PCM) remains high in risk groups such as peripheral vascular surgery. Preoperative assessment has not succeeded in identifying the individual patients most susceptible of PCM. Computerized vectorcardiography (VCG), a novel continuous on-line method for ischaemia monitoring was evaluated for perioperative use. READ MORE
