  1. 1. Multi-year maintenance optimisation for paved public roads - segment based modelling and price-directive decomposition

    Author : Per-Åke Andersson; Per Olov Lindberg; Torbjörn Larsson; Jonathan Bard; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; road maintenance optimisation; price-directive decomposition; Optimization; systems theory; Optimeringslära; systemteori;

    Abstract : I avhandlingen studeras hur kostnadseffektiva underhålls- (uh-)planer för belagd väg kan genereras, på basis av information om aktuellt vägytetillstånd och funktionella modeller för kostnads- och tillståndsförändringar, delvis utvecklade i samarbete med svenska Vägverket (VV). Tilltänkt användning är på strategisk och programnivå, innan mer detaljerad objektinformation finns att tillgå. READ MORE

  2. 2. Lumbar fusion for chronic low-back pain in isthmic spondylolisthesis

    Author : Per Ekman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Exercise; Outcome; Long-term; interbody fusion; spinal fusion; lumbar; Adjacent segment degeneration; Isthmic spondylolisthesis; Degenerative disc disease; Chronic low back pain; predictor; prospective; pain drawing; sciatica; psychologic screening; Randomized controlled trial;

    Abstract : Manifestation of isthmic spondylolisthesis (IS), with a prevalence of 5% in the general population, varies from totally asymptomatic to severe disability. Although fusion has positive short-term effects, the long-term outcome of such treatment, as well as possible accelerated degeneration of adjacent segment discs (ASD) and its clinical significance, are unknown. 3. 3. Investigation of Hox gene expression and Wnt-signalling in basally branching ecdysozoans

    Author : Mattias Hogvall; Ralf Janssen; Graham Budd; Andreas Hejnol; Andrew Peel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wnt signalling pathway; Hox genes; Fz receptors; Onychophora; Priapulida; Ecdysozoa; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Organismal Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär organismbiologi;

    Abstract : One of the most important processes in the development of an animal is the determination and patterning of the primary body axis, the anterior-posterior (AP) axis. After the AP axis has been established the embryo grows and elongates through posterior elongation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Voice function and quality of life in laryngectomees

    Author : Elisabet Lundström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Individuals who undergo laryngectomy, surgical removal of the larynx, loose their normal voice. The breathing pattern is altered to permanent tracheostomal breathing. A new voice can be established by use of a segment in the lower part of the pharynx and the most upper part of the esophagus, the pharyngo-esophageal (PE) segment. READ MORE

  5. 5. Biomechanical and Clinical Aspects on Fixation Techniques in the Cervical Spine

    Author : Thomas Henriques; Claes Olerud; Sune Larsson; Dieter Grob; Uppsala universitet; []
