16. Triglyceride-rich lipoproteins : postprandial metabolism and composition in relation to atherosclerosis
Abstract : A relationship between postprandial lipaemia and coronary heart disease (CHD) was established as early as the 1950s. Since then, most attention has been paid to postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRLs) of intestinal origin, i.e. chylomicrons and chylomicron remnants, whereas TRLs of hepatic origin, i. 17. Diet and postprandial risk markers for complications in type 2 diabetes
Abstract : The period after a meal is complex with fluctuation in blood glucose, lipids and other metabolic responses. This may induce and/or increase inflammation and contribute to future development of diabetic complications. Prevention of complications include well-controlled disease management, including diet. 18. Postprandial lipaemia and its relation to premature atherosclerosis in middle-aged men
Abstract : The present research programme was set up to investigate whether pertubations of the metabolism of postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRLs) are related to premature atherosclerosis and to determine if treatment with a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitor (atorvastatin) improves deranged alimentary lipaemia in postinfarction patients with combined hyperlipidaemia. The relation between plasma insulin and alimentary lipaemia was investigated as well. READ MORE

19. Pharmacometric Characterization of Postprandial Responses and Taste Perception in Individuals with Obesity
Abstract : Obesity is a major health epidemic worldwide and occurs when long-term excess of energy intake beyond energy utilization leads to an increase in adipose tissue. Energy balance is coordinated by the central nervous system regulation of appetite and adaptive thermogenesis via a complex array of neuropeptides which communicate to the periphery by various circulating measures dictating the utilization of various energy sources such as, carbohydrates, fat, or protein.
