  1. 1. The Multifunctional HnRNP A1 Protein in the Regulation of the Cyp2a5 Gene : Connecting Transcriptional and Posttranscriptional Processes

    Author : Tina Glisovic; Matti Lang; Francoise Raffalli-Mathieu; Lorenz Poellinger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Cyp2a5; DNA-protein interaction; gene regulation; hnRNP A1; nucleocytoplasmic shuttling; RNA-protein interaction; RNA stabilization; posttranscriptional; transcriptional; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi;

    Abstract : The mouse xenobiotic-inducible Cyp2a5 gene is both transcriptionally and posttranscriptionally regulated. One of the most potent Cyp2a5 inducers, the hepatotoxin pyrazole, increases the CYP2A5 mRNA half-life. READ MORE

  3. 3. Posttranscriptional Regulation of Human Papillomavirus Type 16 Late mRNAs

    Author : Brian Collier; Carl Baker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; HPV 16; Negative Element; Translation; mRNA stability; Codon Usage; RNA binding proteins; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Abstract : The lifecycle of the human papillomavirus (HPV) is strictly linked to the programmed differentiation of the host cell it infects. Production of late proteins, which are used for the production of the major and minor capsid proteins, is only seen upon terminal differentiation of the epithelium. READ MORE

  4. 4. Posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression in retroviruses and human papillomaviruses

    Author : Wei Tan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : CTE; EIAV; HIV- 1; HPV; Rev; RRE; splice site; SRV- 1; 3 UTR Stockholm 1996 Doctoral Thesis;

    Abstract : Human immunodeficiency virus type I (HIV-1) is the prototype of complex retroviruses, whereas human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are nonenveloped, cricular double-stranded DNA viruses. The HIV-1 Rev protein is a posttranscriptional regulator, which acts on its target RNA sequence termed the Rev-responsive element (RRE) to facilitate nuclear export of unspliced and partially spliced HIV-1 mRNAs, and to improve their stability and translatability. 5. 5. Transcriptional and posttranscriptional regulation of the psbA gene family in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis 6803

    Author : Abdalla Mohamed Jama; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Photosynthesis is the process by which photosynthetic organisms convert solar energy into chemical energy and further into carbohydrates. In plants, algae and the prokaryotic cyanobacteria the harness and conversion of sunlight takes place in specialized membranes called thylakoids. READ MORE
