  1. 16. ELECTRON BEAM MELTING OF ALLOY 718 - POWDER RECYCLING AND ITS EFFECT ON DEFECT FORMATION

    Author : Hans Gruber; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; powder recycling; electron beam melting; oxide defects; Alloy 718; defect formation; powder degradation; additive manufacturing; non-metallic inclusions;

    Abstract : As for any production process, the performance of additively manufactured components is ultimately dependent on the quality of the feedstock material. Consequently, for critical components, the feedstock needs to be carefully controlled to assure a stable and reliable quality. READ MORE

  2. 17. Improved high velocity cold copaction processing : polymer powder to high performance parts

    Author : Bruska Azhdar; Sture Persson; Cornell Nicolescu; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; high-velocity compaction; powder polymers; polyamide-11; relaxation assist; compactibility; relative green density; morphology; pull-out; springback; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : A uniaxial High-Velocity Compaction (HVC) process for polymer powder using a cylindrical, hardened steel die and a new technique with relaxation assist was tested with a focus on the compactibility characteristics and surface morphology of the compacted materials using various heights of relaxation assist device with different compacting profiles. Relaxation assist device was presented as a new technique to reduce springback, pull-out phenomenon and to improve the compaction process. READ MORE

  3. 18. Powder Bed Structure and Imbibition - A Study of Spray Dried Dairy Powders

    Author : Erik Börjesson; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; powder bed structure; Imbibition; powder morphology; porous media;

    Abstract : The formation of lumps during powder dissolution is undesirable in most cases. In a world where the use of dry products is increasing, incomplete powder dissolution and lump formation can for instance affect the color of a paint or the nutritional content of baby food. READ MORE

  4. 19. Micromechanics of Powder Compaction

    Author : Erik Olsson; Per-Lennart Larsson; Christophe Martin; KTH; []
    Keywords : Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Compaction of powders followed by sintering is a convenient manufacturing method for products of complex shape and components of materials that are difficult to produce using conventional metallurgy. During the compaction and the handling of the unsintered compact, defects can develop which could remain in the final sintered product. READ MORE

  5. 20. Novel approaches for achieving full density powder metallurgy steels

    Author : Maheswaran Vattur Sundaram; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cr- and Mo-alloyed PM steels; vacuum sintering; high density; full density; hot isostatic pressing.; cold isostatic pressing; liquid phase sintering; master alloy; double pressing-double sintering; powder metallurgy steels; sintering; water atomised powder;

    Abstract : Powder metallurgy (PM) is one of the most resource-efficient methods for manufacturing structural components with complex shapes. The utilisation of the metal powder to shape the components allows to minimise material waste and increase energy efficiency. READ MORE
