1. Protection for Multiterminal HVDC Grids - A Digital Contribution
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to (1) enhance understanding of mechanisms that are important for the protection of high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) grids, and (2) suggest possible technical solutions. To that end, digital technologies were used both in simulation, as well as in a laboratory environment. READ MORE

2. Benefits of Coordinating Plug-In Electric Vehicles in Electric Power Systems : Through Market Prices and Use-of-System Network Charges
Abstract : Both electric power systems and the transportation sector are essential constituents to modern life, enhancing social welfare, enabling economic prosperity and ultimately providing well-being to the people. However, to mitigate adverse climatological effects of emitting greenhouse gases, a rigorous de-carbonization of both industries has been set on the political agenda in many parts of the world. 3. Dialogues on the Net - Power structures in asynchronous discussions in the context of a web based teacher training course
Abstract : The general aim of this thesis is to investigate the interaction processes that occur in group dialogues when teacher students work in small groups, using net based asynchronous dialogues to solve a problem in the area of environmental sustainability. More specifically, the interest is to determine whether students’ net based dialogues give rise to patterns of dominance/subordination similar to those observed in face-to-face situations. READ MORE

4. Aggregation of Plug-in Electric Vehicles in Power Systems for Primary Frequency Control
Abstract : The number of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) is likely to increase in the near future and these vehicles will probably be connected to the electric grid most of the day time. PEVs are interesting options to provide a wide variety of services such as primary frequency control (PFC), because they are able to quickly control their active power using electronic power converters.
