  2. 2. Specific Precipitation of Biomolecules Using Synthetic Polymers

    Author : Per-Olof Wahlund; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biotechnology; Polymerteknik; RNA; plasmid DNA; DNA; polyelectrolyte complexes; synthetic polymers; precipitation; affinity precipotation; Bioteknik; Polymer technology; biopolymers;

    Abstract : Purification is a very important stage in biotechnological processes. The traditionally used precipitation techniques are generally nonspecific and thus one or more chromatographic steps are normally required. There is thus a need for new approaches to improve existing techniques. READ MORE

  4. 4. Haloacetates in precipitation

    Author : Lena von Sydow; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Haloacetates are a group of fluorinated, chlorinated and brominated organic compounds that pose a potential threat to the environment, because they are present in relatively high concentrations in precipitation and they are toxic to plants. At the time the research described in this thesis was begun, it had been suggested that atmospheric degradation of chlorinated solvents and CFC replacements were responsible for the presence of haloacetates in precipitation in populous regions. 5. 5. Calcium Carbonate Precipitation in Presence of Carboxylic Acids

    Author : Karl-Johan Westin; KTH; []
    Keywords : calcium carbonate; precipitation; crystallization; carboxylic acids;

    Abstract : With a metal removal process based on precipitation aimed atthe purification of pulping effluent as a starting point, theinfluence of carboxylic acids on calcium carbonateprecipitation has been studied. The chosen carboxylic acids canact as more or less strong complexing agents for aqueouscalcium, just as many compounds found in pulping liquors. READ MORE
