  1. 21. How to Set Rational Environmental Goals : theory and applications

    Author : Karin Edvardsson; John Cantwell; Erik Carlson; KTH; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; goal-setting; rationality; precision; evaluability; approachability; motivity; coherence; operationalization; goal conflicts; environmental objectives; sustainable development; Philosophy subjects; Filosofiämnen;

    Abstract : Environmental goals are commonly set to guide work towards ecological sustainability. The aim of this thesis is to develop a precise terminology for the description of goals in terms of properties that are important in their practical use as decision-guides and to illustrate how it can be used in evaluations of environmental policy. 2. 22. Multi-Mode Datapath Circuits for Flexible and Energy-Efficient Computing

    Author : Tung Hoang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; precision; power gating; accelerator; Multi-mode; energy efficiency;

    Abstract : Tailored to run domain-specific applications under very strict constraints on, for example, real-time performance and power dissipation, embedded systems rarely can be implemented on general-purpose computing platforms. Rather, the embedded processor's architecture and implementation technology should be fine tuned to the needs of the particular embedded system. READ MORE

  3. 23. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity

    Author : Marius Sommer; Louise Rönnqvist; Charlotte Häger; Nicola Hodges; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motor timing; rhythmicity; timing training; golf shot; golf swing; kinematics; precision; variability; coordination; movement dynamics; soccer; fMRI; mirror neurons; action observation; cerebellum; perception - action.; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer. 4. 24. Pharmacometric Investigations of Prediction Precision and Advances of Models for Composite Scale Data

    Author : Gustaf Wellhagen; Maria C. Kjellsson; Bengt Hamrén; Per Olsson Gisleskog; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacometrics; modelling; non-linear mixed effects modelling; composite scale data; total score data; total score analysis; precision prediction; bounded integer; bounded integer model; IRT-informed total score analysis; item response theory-informed; mixed models for repeated measures; MMRM; dose-response; dose-response mixed models for repeated measures; DR-MMRM; HbA1c models; fit-for-purpose analysis; clinical trial analysis; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : Clinical trials are needed to evaluate new treatments. In late-stage clinical trials, failures are mostly due to lack of efficacy. Fit-for-purpose analysis methods will likely increase the success rates and advance drug development by providing higher precision to support decisions such as go/no-go, dose selection, or sample size. 5. 25. Enhanced image analysis, a tool for precision metrology in the micro and macro world

    Author : Bita Daemi; Lars Mattsson; Peter Ekberg; Mikael Sjödahl; KTH; []
    Keywords : Image processing; image metrology; precision metrology; image correlation; subpixel; accuracy; uncertainty; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Abstract : The need for high speed and cost efficient inspection in manufacturing lineshas led to a vast usage of camera-based vision systems. The performance ofthese systems is sufficient to determine shape and size, but hardly to an accuracylevel comparable with traditional metrology tools. READ MORE
